I'm in my last teen years and realize that two large bumps on both sides of my labium(?or the external vaginal wall) must be treated. I have been in fear of going to the doctors, and talking to anyone about it for the past several years. At first when these bumps appeared, it hurt, but now, it doesn't hurt at all. The bumps grew, and then just stopped in size and is just there. How do I get rid of my fear and finally admit it to the doctor that I have a problem? --sincerely,scared out of my mind

What you are describing is probably not cancer. It may be HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), or genital warts, or even abscessed infected hairs, or there are other possibilities.

Getting this looked at will ease your mind, instead of carrying this fear around for so long. If you will feel better about it, it's perfectly okay to take someone along for moral support. It's okay to go alone too. If a doctor is too scary, find a nurse-practitioner instead, some people find them easier to talk to. As for the fear, just take deep breaths (we hold our breaths when we're afraid), keep breathing, and dial the phone. The same for the appointment - just keep breathing deeply and slowly.

I wish you the best!

I hope it's nothing, but you NEED to go see a Doctor and tell him/her what you are telling us. This is your life we are talking about. Is it really worth risking your life just because you are scared? How would you feel if you finally did go and you are told there is nothing they can do now, but had you come sooner, they could treat you??

I say this because I do understand the fear of going to the Doctor in case he/she tells you something is wrong, but the sooner you go, the sooner you can get it over with and either learn that you were wrong to be scared for so long or you can treat the issue (thus increasing the chance to beat it if it is something serious)!! Go to the Doctor!! Please keep us posted. I'm sure you will be OK! Good luck!!

You shouldnt be embrassed and you should go and get it check out. It might be something as simple as a ingrown hair that got infected ( as gross as it sounds it does happen) and has pus in it and needs to be drained;or a cyst. I So please go to the doctor and see whats wrong once you go you will be happy to know its nothing serious. I wish I could help you more but there isnt anyway anyone can tell you what it is over the computer. And if it would make you feel better go to a female doctor if thats whats causing the embrassement.

Don't scare yourself now. It may be nothing, or may be something bad. Pls visit a speciality doctor ASAP, because diseases/ cancers are more likely to be cured in the early stage.

You also need to learn more knowledge about cervical/ Vaginal cancer. "www.smile.org.au" is suggested, because it is a huge database about the symptoms, causes, effects and preventions of cancers, as well as a wide range of cancer therapies.

Good Luck!

First of all dont be scare too much.

Basically you have to be oriented on your anatomy. You might be experiencing a swollen bartholin's gland (bartholin's cyst).

Bartholin's gland is usually located on the places that you described. Its main function is to lubricate the vagina during sexual intercourse.

But for some reasons, the duct or openings were obstructed and same manifestation as yours may be encounter.

Nothing much to worry it is not a STD, so dont be so shy to consult a doctor.

It's always better to know the worst than to not know. AND it may be nothing.

The unknown causes people more stress than bad news--at least you know the next step in order to take a plan of action if it is, in fact, bad news.

If it hasn't gotten significantly worse, and it's been this long, it's probably nothing.

Bite the bullet and go. If necessary, ask a close friend to go with you.

Good luck!
