Mostly agree.**
Any persons first responsibility is to their own family; then to those who are under your roof or in the camp so to speak. In Christianity the family is extended to brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.

God did not give the Commandments until the Children of Israel were totally separated from the world. No Egyptians, no really friendly tribes. Then came -- love they neighbor as thyself. Further they were moving towards a land which only they were to occupy. From this view it is fairly easy to see that love they neighbor was not a world affair portending the International Red Cross or Habitat for Humanity.

In the early 1950s the big band wagon theology in America was the universal fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. Ones neighbor became anybody. Sunday School teachers were reading church printed materials asking little Johnny and little Susie --- Now who is your neighbor? Is it the person next door? How about two blocks away? How about the other side of town? And so add nauseaium.

Jesus said that to love God, and to love ones neighbor as ones self, was the true summary of the law and the prophets. One cannot claim, even here, that neighbor applies to all of mankind as the law and the prophets were only to the true seed of Abraham to this day.

Finally the program of God was never to salvage this world; but save as many as were willing to step out of this world and become part of another and new creation.

In summary those who teach a false 'remodeling theology' also hold to the idea of the universal fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. Those who are outta here, while not against helping anyone placed in their path (good Samaritan), are not to become engaged in vast social programs to save a world marked for destruction.

**Your question says "not bother" so it is slanted. If all showed mercy to those put in their path, and delt in love with their own kinsmen, there would be lots fewer 'other people' to bother about.

Now, however, with 6.7 billion people on the earth, and about 2.7 billion more to come in less than 50 years, I would class questions like this as mote; a speck of dust in relation to both the spiritual and physical problems that are here now. Still, a good question in terms of understanding how Scripture is misinterpreted and misapplied.

The vast majority of people are better at taking care of world problems then those at their door step. The old saw, charity begins at home, is pretty good and goes with God's view that those who do not take care of their own are worse than infidels. There is also the Scripture about taking no thought for tomorrow; for sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

sorry I hit the wrong button again, oh well. I do not agree with that, when you became a christian didn't God help you? He didn't stop to wonder what your religion was, he loved you to much right? He helped me and He didn't think twice of what my religion was, and He loved me too, then if so why would we want only to help those who are the same religion? That is so very wrong to think like that, we help anyone and everyone in the Name of Christ, we love anyone and everyone in the Name of Christ. and He does so us too..

Christianity is the only religion that helps all people as a general rule.Don't you remember the parable about the Good Samaritan? Don't you remember that Jesus said for us to love our enemies? He wasn't kidding. When we love others,we are honoring God.It raises us to heights that we could never know otherwise, and it allows us to have a deeper union with God the Father, and with Jesus.

As I recall the traveler who was robbed and beaten and left for dead could find no one of his own faith to help him and only the kind and good Samaritan would help him and this man was neither of his own people or faith. Should anyone of any religious or non religious beliefs do any less?

Why should religion be a reason that you should help somebody? Remember the Good Samaritan or have you mislaid your Bible?

Read up on the story of "The Good Samaritan", and you will be reminded that Christ asked, "Now, who was a neighbour to this wounded man?" The answer was, "The one who showed pity on him."

Jesus said "If you help just those who are your own you're no different than the Pagans.God causes it to rain on the just and the unjust alike."
Of course we are not to be separatists. That was one of the problems with the Pharisees.

Jesus said every one is my neighbor.Yes I have many brothers ans sisters in Jesus. But by the grace of God my family will keep growing.
Many people believe in foreign gods,I pray by the love of Jesus I show they will see the light of Jesus in me.Turn and follow Jesus. Many time I fall short of showing that perfect love, but Jesus is ever merciful.
All are created by the hands of God,we should work together as one.<><
