What are your thoughts on this? Do you think people should receive government assistance for having children they should not be having in the first place? If yes why do you support it? If no what do you recommend to fix it?

It's not an incentive program, you don't get benefits for "having" children. Situations arise in many women's lives that make assistance necessary, there is a myth that all people on government assistance are high school drop-outs having baby after baby after baby. It's simply not true.

Three years ago my husband was involved in an accident and his right foot was crushed, resulting in him being out of work for over a year. While accidental insurance covered his medical expenses, we were without an income. Our savings account was empty after 4 months. We had a 4 yr old, and a newborn baby. We received food stamps and medicaid for the children (for a period of nine months). I didn't plan to have a baby without an income, I didn't plan to have a child and not be able to buy food for her. I didn't plan to be 32 yrs old and not be able to provide for my children, I'm sure at 44 my husband wasn't proud of the fact either.

If your belief is that people have babies to get on welfare, the simplest way to fix it is to have mandatory programs in public schools that teach reproductive responsibility, and real-life finances.

Of course people support it. If perhaps they woke up and realized that they were not ready for a child then they wouldn't need it now would they? Granted it is a good thing to have for those in need, cause life happens. But when you have children and you know you cant afford it, who's at fault? And why should the government pay for it? There are two sides to every coin. I suppose I would support it as well, seeing as it is a good thing when used properly. But you idiots pumping out kids for tax breaks and free aide should be shot.

Yes. I myself recieve it. My son's father is a dead beat dad that's in prison and of course he cannot pay child support. When you recieve government aid they usually try to helpyou get child support from the father. the problem is that there are some men that won't pay a dime even when ordered by a judge. Sure you can take them back to court but in most cases the guy only has to pay a minum to avoid jail even though he may owe a lot. same goes for the good dads that get stuck taking care of their kids solo because the mom is to busy being a you-know-what.

No aid for women with children. Families should be thought out. If you can't afford to support a child, you should not have a child. If you have one you can not support, it should be called child negligence, and the child should be taken away and put into foster care or into adoption

I believe that teenagers, women who don't want children but got pregnant because they are too dumb to use contraception, drug or alchohol addicts, and the others who are on welfare and have like 5 or 6 kids should not recieve it. But women who are not blessed enough to be in a wealthy enough state to have health insurance etc. but want to have 1 or 2 babies max, should be allowed to recieve help.

yes i think they should as long as they are either working or trying to get a job, and they should recieve it only until they are able to support themselves and their family without help.
