I love our country, I love our Anthem. But that guy was horrible at singing it. I wish NA$CAR would just always use children to sing it. I love hearing little kids sing our Anthem. What do y'all think?

Big, I guess I wasnt listening to the same broadcast, because the guy I heard butchered it.

Jan, I can kinda see what your saying, but the reason Rosey butchered the song is because she really shouldnt have been asked to sing it anyway, I dont like what she did and she could have turned it down on the other hand.

I just like hearing the kids, it's pure and they arent trying to impress anyone. They sing it the way it was ment to be sung.

David, I agree with you. This has been a soar spot for me also. I just want it to be sung right and I would really like to see children do it every week. It would be something that no fan would get tired of, and it would be a memory that the children would ever forget.

Polaris, I'm going to have to search for that, I'm not a huge fan of open wheel, but I do watch the INDY 500, it's a great race.

I agree with you and David B. I wish people would sing it the way it was written, the way it was meant to be sung. That way you are showing respect for our flag and our country. But as far as that black dude, well I've heard a lot worse. Just be thankful they didn't invite Roseanne Barr to sing it!!!!!!
And who was it that butchered it at the Indy 500 a few years back? Was it that guy from Aerosmith? Can't remember. It was awful.

It was more of a 'gospel' rendition. It was really not bad. Kids are rather fun to watch sing it, but that happens only for several races a year. But I don't really mind singers doing their style as long as they don't scream it out.
We could have listened to Roseanne belt it out like she did at that baseball game. Now that was HORRIBLE!!!!!

I agree with you 10000% --- Just sing it the way it is supposed to be sung instead of trying to improve on it.

Oh man.... did you ever hit the nail on the head!!! That's been a sore spot with me for awhile now. All these hip-hop, rhythm&blues versions really tick me off. I wish to hell they'd pass a law making it mandatory to sing or play it just as it was written.

What worst than Roseanne Barr?

I agree. I hate when guys change it to try and make it their own. Just sing it! The best rendition in recent memory has to go to Brian McKnight. I think it was at California, but I am not positive on that!

I didn't think it was a bad rendition...I've heard plenty worse over the years at all kinds of different sporting events.
