Since it is sugar, it would take like a million years to expire. But, still, I would be wary, cake mixes are not expensive, I would throw it away and buy another.

Most cake mix boxes have an expiration date on the top. And, most will be good for about a year...after that, the finished product will not be as good as it should be, often not rising or having a somewhat bitter taste. My advice is to toss out the cake mix after a year/year and a half...(In the future, when you buy a box, if it doesn't have an expiration date on it, write the date you bought it, in permanent marker, on the box top and use it no later than a year and a half after that date---or, write your own expiration date on the box top)

It should be OK, but the cake may not rise. The baking powder will go inactive after 2 years or so.
I made a pineapple upside down cake with expired cake mix one time. It still turned out delicious, like a blond brownie with caramel & pineapple.

No, they never expire, but the boxes do weaken. Most kinds of mixes are fine for at least 4 years

Yes it does. There's usually an expiration date stamped on the box. I wouldn't use it if I were you.

Depends on the brand..
it is not allowed to be on the shelf at that time.
Did you know if pancake expires it could be poisonous? (that is what my grandmother said) I guessing that it would be a bad choice to use it

It won't really "go bad", but it's leavening agents might not do what they're supposed to do properly (the cake might not rise like it should). Go ahead and make it...see what happens.
