I think that while Mormons have more converts in America, I think J.W.'s have the most converts world wide. Because the J.W.'s have preached in alot of countries that the Mormons have not preached in. Mormon have not preached in all the countries yet due to the fact that the Mormons are waiting permission to go into those countries. Mormons will not go into a country where they are not welcomed by the general authorities. So the J.W.'s have covered more countries and more territory. Second there are thousands of more J.W. missionaries than Mormon Missionaries because J.W.'s go door to door from the time that they are 1 year old to the time that they are 100 years old. While the Mormons Missionaries only do it for 2 years of their life. In Albany Oregon there are only 6 Mormon Missionaries at any given time. 2 per each ward. There are about 300-500 J.W. missioanres serving in Albany Oregon.because it is a "church" wide effort. So are we creaming the Mormons or what?

I was raised as a Mormon and left when my mom did, I was 12. I went to other faiths because she would not let me go back and I found too many similarities in all of them, including the competition for who(Rev. Minster, Father, etc) was better at preaching the Gospel.
So by the time I was 16, I gave up on Christendom.
When I was 18, I was married, expecting my first child and the Jehovah's Witnesses came to the door to call on my grandmother.
I could not believe my ears.
Finally, answers from the bible!
I have been grateful ever since.
Baptized July 21, 1979 and proud of it!
As far as who is growing faster, it doesn't really matter to me, just to those who are sincere and looking for Jehovah, so Preach the word and be at it urgently!
This old system is ending fast!

there are more Mormon missionaries per Ward than you think. What if 20 young men hit 19 in the same Churchh? they will not deny 18 to go out and do missions. My friends Ward had 8 at one time, they go out of country all the time and they do not stop telling people about their churc hand religion. It is an ongoing thing. I am neither Mormon or JW, just have a Mormon friend and know a few things. I thought JW's weren't supposed to be on a site like this per the church guidelines..............

Mormons wil not go into a country in which the government hasn't invited them not the general authorities... You are proud to go into countries where teaching your faith will get people killed ... Wow I have heard it all..

Not all Mormon missionaries fall into the males 19-21 and females 21-23 catagories... Many older couples are missionaries as well ... A little research goes a long long way...

Although I don't think it's a contest...

Who would want to win the "I fooled you" race anyway. I guess you would so congratulations..

Jehovah's Witnesses are not in competition with anyone; they seek merely to please God and Christ and hopefully help their neighbors. Mormons are to be commended for recognizing Christ's command to preach, since the vast majority of self-described Christendom simply ignores this godly work.

Related to the premise of this "question", however, it is interesting note some comparisons that Mormons themselves have made. Here are some interested quotes from an LDS website...

[quote]
Jehovah's Witnesses would never consider rushing an individual to baptism in two weeks or less: individuals must first prove their dedication to Jehovah and worthiness to serve as his spokesman. As a result, they achieve 80+% long-term retention, compared to an average 25-30% worldwide LDS retention rate.

[quote]
Of the more than six million active Jehovah's Witnesses, almost all spend a minimum of ten hours a month sharing their faith with others, and 850,000 -- almost 15% -- spend fifty or more hours a month. According to George Barna's study of religious practices by denomination published on of July 9, 2001, only 26% of U.S. Latter-day Saints make any attempt at all to share their faith with non-members over the course of an entire year.

In the clearest sense of the word, it would be the Mormons, as JWs don't convert. What they do is similar to a Christian joining Judaism. You are a revert, or someone who is going back to an earlier form of faith in God. JWs do the same thing. You are going back to an earlier form of Christianity, that found in the first congregations. Witnesses are not looking for converts. They are seeking persons whose hearts are seeking answers to questions that Christendom cannot not answer.

Now, as far as bring in new members, then yes, it would be JWs, according to records kept by Islam. They have made reference to JWs as a prime example of how to spread the Word of God. In their case, they would like to do the same thing. A have a flier about it on my desk. Now I just need to find my desk under the piles.

Proselytizing is a lot like direct marketing - it takes an exorbitantly high number of contacts to make a sale. The mormons have about 50,000 to 60,000 hull-time missionaries, which I believe includes the teenagers and also retired couples.

The church also sponsors many nationwide ads on TV, and of course, the televised 12 hour endurance meetings called "General Conference". The PBS Mormons program was also recently aired. They also have BYU in all the college game conferences, too.

The mormon church gets a lot of TV face time.

It doesn't matter, we can deal with them later. We need now to control the muslims and their killing for god's sake. We need to show the whole world that their religion is wrong and their religious practices are inhumane.

Wouldn't in be fun to watch a panel discussion consisting of a mormon, a jehovah witness, and a scientologist? Picture this: Tom Cruise jumping on a couch with jehovah witnesses knocking on the door and white shirted mormons looking in the window.
