find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)

dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.

I lost 40 pounds in 1 month, and they stayed off!
I walked 5 miles in the morning and 5 at night, ate less, ate better no eating after 5 pm.
I was too lazy to workout, and too big to run, so I figured all I got to do is keep moving. I walked at a local parking lot that was equal to 1 mile. I walked 1 mile every 20 minutes. I would either walk 3 hours at night or morning if I had something else to do that day but tried to break it down to 2 sessions of an hour and a half.
I was so sick of being overweight. Even my daughter would call me fat. I tried to go to the gym, but I just coudn't get into it. I was also sick of my job, (sales) their was too much pressure and stress. I quit my job and lived off my 401k for 1 month, while I dedicated myself to losing some weight. Now my life is awsome. I work in a warehouse 6- 2 am, attend phoenix online (half way to my degree {3.75 GPA})and take care of my 5 month old baby day's. I weigh in at a lean 180 instead of 220.
I have now joined my local recreation center and love working out, becuase I look good, and feel better! good luck

Workouts will not cause you to lose weight, exercise helps to maintain weight. As for dieting, eating a balanced diet with carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats will allow you to acheive a 1-2# per week healthy weight loss. See a Registered Dietitian to create a meal plan that will allow you to consume all essential amino acids that your body needs. Avoid concentrated sweets. Drink non-caloric beverages like water.

eat 70% of your calorie intake for your weight and height and run every day for at least 20 minutes. Stretch for 20 minutes and mix in light weights.
