So apparantly if Gordon Hinkley writes a book, thats a prophesy? Suppose you put all his writings together, would that be the book of Gordon? I'm gonna call the President. The Religious Right needs this new scripture. Maybe it will help with the mess in Iraq. Maybe it will end world hunger.

"Oh Lord, we thank thee for a Prophet....."

"When our leaders speak, the thinking has been done. When they point the way, there is no other which is safe. When they give direction, it should mark the end of controversy" Ward teachers message, June 1945.

“The Living Prophet...is more vital to us than the Standard Works [(Bible, Book of Mormon, etc)...
”The living Prophet is more important to us than a dead ...
"Keep your eye on the President of the Church. If he ever tells you to do anything, and it is wrong, and you do it, the Lord will bless you for it" Ezra Taft, BYU Devotional, Feb 26, 1980, p.3,6).

Joseph Fielding Smith declared that at every General Conference of the church, the speakers are “giving forth scripture that is equal to anything in the Bible or Book of Mormon”.

So, take those goddamn extra earrings out now! God said so!

Gordon B. Hinckley: "Now we don’t need a lot of continuing revelation. We have a great, basic reservoir of revelation. But if a problem arises, as it does occasionally, a vexatious thing with which we have to deal, we go to the Lord in prayer. We discuss it as a First Presidency and as a Council of the Twelve Apostles. We pray about it and then comes the whisperings of a still small voice. And we know the direction we should take and we proceed accordingly. "

The answers to Global Warming, AIDS, War, Famine have already been given in earlier prophecies. Until we use the instructions we have already been given, why ask for new ones. If we say read the Word of Wisdom or the Proclamation on the Family you will ignore us.

Just because he is the prophet doesn't mean he understands everything. It would be pretty to think so, but just like everyone on earth, he is still learning to. We never stop learning, even after death.

"I don't know if we teach that" is the only thing he has said? You haven't been listening! You should listen to his last talk if you think that is all he says.

Most of the prophets in the bible weren't taken seriously. They were laughed at, they weren't followed, some even thought they weren't called by God. Same thing today.

Most prophesies aren't given like Revelation tells them. Some are more common sense and more direction then saying "this will happen" or "if you don't do this, such and such is the consequence". Most are gentle, but inspired. He has said a lot that is revelation. Everything he tells the members of the church about what we need to do is revelation. It isn't sensational, nor does it need to be. It's what God wants us all to know. It isn't just for the LDS people, it's for anyone who wants to listen, and anyone that can understand what God wants of us.

If people were to follow what Pres. Hinckley says, the world would be a much better place to live. Does that mean that there would be no war? No. Does it mean there would be no more disease? No. That is part of living. It's part of why we are here. But it would be a better place. There will always be people, no matter what time period, that don't believe, or that don't see what is in front of them. Just like during Jesus' time. Did everyone believe Him? Absolutely not!! So if even Christ can't make everyone follow him, what makes you think the prophet today could?

I'm posting a link to his last few talks. Take time to either listen to them, or read them. It may help you to see that he actually says something for all of us. Also, you may want to pray about it. Ask God what He thinks.

*edit*

You can receive revelation yourself. All you have to do is pray to know what God wants of you. This is prophecy from God himself to just you!!

I see no reason you may desire to be condescending and impolite. besides the undeniable fact that, that's advantageous to ask questions or ask your self approximately why, a church consistent with revelation, could purchase something that replaced right into a fraud. curiously sufficient, I also have a splash greater desirable perception into this. My neighbor is a church historian for the Mormon church, and has been for it sluggish. In his function he deals with historical information etc. while the church replaced into presented with the information by using Mr. Hoffman my neighbor replaced into the guy who authenticated the information and counseled those above him of their genuineness. So, purely as in the different business enterprise, the leaders interior the church rely on others and their abilities and profession. It replaced into the err of my neighbor getting dupped by using Mr. Hoffman; because of the fact of his advice the church bought the information. The Mormon church is a church of the human beings besides as of God. meaning, that besides the actuality that there is a prophet that leads the church and gets revelation from God (so as that they proclaim) there is likewise super reliance and have faith in its individuals. God does not purely hand anybody the solutions or intervene with each ingredient or our lives, in any different case he could be doing away with the unfastened organisation which we so importantly won as a effect of the call interior the backyard of Eden. the call to purchase the letters replaced into based on the opinion of a lay man or woman and the representation of a con guy. that's it. there is not any reason to make lots greater of it. Does my neighbor elect to speak approximately it? No, i think of this is been something that has compelled him for a protracted time, yet he keeps to do what he does acceptable, be a historian. all of us make blunders and that i quite do no longer elect somebody to hold mine over my head. stable success and God bless.

First of all, Global Warming is not a big deal and the liberals just make it sound big to get money.

Also, AIDS is mostly the people who get it's fault.

We're not going to run out of resources any time soon.

War is neccesary for the second coming.

But Famine, that is a problem that requires International cooperation to fix.

The prophet does make profecies. Just you might not hear them.

[all he ever says is "I don't know if we teach that"]

Wow... if you really think that then you haven't done much studying... He's written at least three books.

He does prophesy, but what most people think is prophecy is going into a glazed eye trance... that is Satan making fun of it. Do a little more research and don't take things out of context and I might take you seriously.

He is a prophet of God.

have a great day! :)

**EDIT** you obviously misunderstood my answer... let me try again...
You said: all he ever says is "I don't know if we teach that."
you took this out of context and meaning... It's really another way of saying "we don't teach that(you have to remember the Prophet is 90 something... he still uses terms that were used long ago)

I also never said he or anyone claims everything he has written is prophesy.

Did Peter fix the worlds problems? No. Did Jesus? No.

What I was saying is... if you really want to know some of his prophecies then find out a little more about him... don't mime some youtube celeb etc.

Pray about it, research it... If you really want to know, you'll really find out.

Have a great day! :)

P.S. if the world followed what was written in those books then yes... the world we know would become a world of peace.

every time President Hinkley stands before any congregation, he is giving us Revelation. When he gives a talk don't you think he prays long and hard about what we need to hear. weather you will listen, that's your problem.

At the Nov. 2006 General Conference he said,
"Increased faith is what we most need. Without it, the work would stagnate. With it, no one can stop its progress."

Ding, Ding, Ding...Is a bell going off in your head now!!

He's trying to let us know that we need to have faith in our Heavenly Father and his plan, and that good will come.

Looks like you need to read that talk. it's available on www.lds.org it's the November 2006 edition of the Ensign, better yet you might just want to subscribe to it, you need to learn a lot before you say he isn't giving us any Revelation.

Prophecy is the ability to speak for God about things past, present and future.

If you really were reading what Pres. Hinckley said, instead of what someone claimed that he said, you would see amazing amounts of revelation - speaking for God to the world.

He has spoken about each of those topics, except MAYBE global warming.

Even though you are being sarcastic, what you say is true. You do need to read his books and prophecies and send them to the religious groups and have them read them.
If all people followed his teachings there would be no war in Iraq. Of cousre there never will be a time when all people follow his teachings. He is teaching what Jesus taught and everyone did not listen to Jesus.

Hey Tan Man. If you were a Latter-day Saint, and a faithful one, you would know what President Hinckley is saying to the world in terms of prophetic utterance. Sadly, you're filled with misgivings and doubts, just as the Pharisees and the Sadduccees were in the time of Christ's mortality.

If you heard a prophecy come forth you wouldn't believe it, would you?
