what are some of the best ways to burn fat and lose weight?

right now i just eat less, eat more veggies, drink more water, and ride my bike 7 miles a day.

i'm basically looking for exercises that are better workouts than riding my bike.

i'm just wondering, cause i'm 5'11" and i weigh 186 lbs., so i have a little room to lose weight.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

well, technically to not overeat and stay healthy in the first place is the best way to stay thin, but cardio's a pretty fun way to shed some pounds. 2 extra pounds doesn't sound so bad, but i'm about 1-2 years younger than you so we're not exactly on the same boat but i think the whole mile before school idea isn't so good, imagine going to school sweaty! not to mention how tiring that will be.

definitely running is awesome. briskly walking is about the same calorie burning wise as biking. sounds like you are on the right track.... just don't eat too little which is a common mistake. i also like the eliptical at the gym. some sort of work out dvd... the taebo series/ bootcamp series is kinda fun. good luck!

add 10 percent to the amount of daily calories you think you re eating
