I have been looking every where possible for a great dane puppy. One that is affordable or even free but I cant find one anywhere. I have been to web sites everywhere. This is one of my last resorts. Any information helps !!!

Free and Cheap don't go together for Danes. Purchase price should be the least of your consideration. While it is possible to find a "cheap" Dane it is likely you will regret it in the long run.Cheap Danes are usually from irresponsible breeders..breeders who don't care about health, temperament, conformation..If you are serious about getting a Dane then get one from a responsible breeder or a rescue that has a good reputation.
Danes are far from being a fragile breed nor are they any more prone to health issues then any other breed, however if they come from irresponsible breeding and from untested parents they can become a BIG problem rather quickly and can be come very costly.They can also have temeprament issues which is something you don't want in any dog, but especially a giant breed.
I suggest before even thinking about getting one that you do a whole lot more research on the breed..Get the book The Great Dane Model of Nobility by Jill Swedlow.

Bad Idea to get a cheap Great Dane. I was in the same situation, I was DESPERETE to find one. I found one in the little nickel for $350. I thought I was getting a GOOD deal. Guess what? I was wrong. Basically, my dane "George" has tons of issues, which include:
-Deafness
-Speration Anxiety
-Already had 2 knee surgerys (almost 2 years old)
-Had bloat a month ago
-Aggresion towards other dogs
-As a puppy aggresion towards human (drew blood at one time)
So what i'm trying to tell you is that believe me when I saw, its worth every penny (even $1k) to get a quality great dane from show parents. This is one breed you don't want to mess with. They are sooooo fragile with their health and all. Most people can say I didn't socialize my dog and thats the cause for his aggresion. Well thats not the case. He was socialized from day one at the dog park & puppy classes. He basically snapped one day. Reason is that he dad was a VERY aggresive dog. So don't take getting a Dane lightly or any other large dog. If you want to get one that is cheaper, you can find Dane Rescues and get an adolecent/adult or senior. But no matter where you get your dane from, first rule of a good breeder is they want to know ALL about you, and if you can really handle a Great Dane. They are very expensive to keep and maintain. So please don't do what I did and get a cheaper dog because in the long run you will be digging in your pockets for more cash. I would try and find you local rescue, resuces have a brilliant selection of dogs. Good luck & do loads of research.

There's nothing cheap about a Great Dane or any other breed of dog pure or not. With the larger breeds there is more to worry about, hips, eyes, amount of food they eat. Even if you get one for free think about all the other expensive things that will come up.I don't want to be a downer, these are just things you need to consider when bringing a life into you heart and home. Look up Great Dane Rescue Organization on the web. Let your local Shelter know that you are interested in adopting a Great Dane. Read the newspaper and look at adds under Pets. Good Luck.
