Lady Tiger's Fan... I just have to say you need educating. The "peace" symbol was around long before Christ, so how can it represent a broken cross? It's actually a Rune symbol for protection. Do your homework before you make yourself look stupid.
Anywho, to answer the question... It's always confused me too. Because if Jesus is the King of Kings, what does that make the Christian god? Isn't he supreme? Doesn't he rule all?
From my understanding, the Holy Trinity are One, yet separate entities. Stupid analogy here, but it's like the idea of Soul Mates. You know you belong to one another and together you're a unit, but at the same time you're still two different people.
I don't recollect Jesus ever being called "God" however. I must've missed that day in church or sommet.

In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was made flesh....These words of John in the bible are talking about Jesus. He was, is and always has been God, and has existed as long as any part of the Trinity. These are God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. In glorified form Jesus is now in heaven. He has sent the Holy Spirit to earth to remain with us until He comes again in glory, to judge the living and the dead. He is the Word, because he is Truth, and truth cannot change.

In order for God to understand what we all go through in life, he had to become life like and there was Jesus. Jesus Was tempted in all things but did not sin so as God could find away of escape for US.To cut our temptations like a two edged sword. To better understand why we could be caught up in a moment. God gave his only begotten son to us so that we may not parish but have everlasting life. That's why he stretched out his arms and said to all of us I love you this much and died for us,think for a second could you endure as much pain for someone you love, before you answer watch the movie The Passion

Look, understand that the way people thought back then was totally different than how we do. For example, they had no idea that there was a universal law about gravity, what goes up must come down. Personally, I don't know how they didn't simply float off into space. Understanding this, you must also understand that most of what was written about Jesus was from the point of John the Baptist (who died an extremely wealthy man, conicidentally), who would equate pretty much as Albert Einstien in our world today. So understand that what he said was LAW, period, no need to discuss this. In my interprtation of Jesus, Jesus felt there was something bigger than himself, no, he KNEW there was something bigger than him. But Jesus also knew that what he had acquired (healing abilities, great wisdon) was something that he had brought out of his own self. Thus, Jesus understood that God was within him, as he is within all of us. He understood that God was all of whom we are , that God created us, he will destroy us, etc. Jesus said that he was the path to eternal life, or all that jazz they speak of now as well as then, but he meant that everything is one. When Jesus wanted us to take him as our saviour (John the Baptist beat this into our heads, although I believe Jesus had something different in mind when he said that he is the truth and the way to redemption) what he meant was that we need to accept that we are great and powerful and that we can almost determine our own destiny. He menat that we all are God (himself included), the Devil (himself included), the angels, Noah, everyone, we are all one. To answer your question simply, yes, Jesus is God. If you buy into that Christian sense of the world, J.C. is the be all and end all. But remember that Jesus was as cool as the cool can get, like Ghandi or Moses, or Mohammed, or Budda. It is John the Baptist who has confused us ... who has confused you.

I can understand why you're confused. The scriptures do have some verses that can be confusing, but taken as a whole make the truth clear. There are 3 beings in what can be called the Godhead. They are distinct individuals, but are one in purpose.
* Heavenly Father (in charge, father of our spirits, the person Jesus prayed to)
* Jesus Christ (the son of God, Jehovah of the Old Testament)
* Holy Ghost (a personage of spirit with a mission to testify of truth)
All three beings were represented at the baptism of Jesus. Jesus wasn't talking to himself in his multiple prayers to His Father in Heaven.
We are meant to actually understand who God is. He's not some big mystery as some would have you believe.
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3)
