AT&T.

The exclusive sponsorship deals that NASCAR has going with gas (Sunoco), and telephone companies (Nextel) is bulls*** quite frankly. Citgo, Amoco/BP, and many other gasoline companies sponsored NASCAR race cars in the past, and Unocal 76 seemed to never have any problems with it.

Im sure if AT&T's lawsuit breaks up the exclusive deal that Nextel wants enforced, look at Shell to go after Sunoco next if that exclusive deal doesnt get broken up in the process.

I can't honestly tell you how many lawsuits Nascar has pending.

It is conceivable that AT&T could do well on the international front by sponsoring Indy, but Nascar has a much stronger following in the United States than does Indy.

As for the demographics match, AT&T doesn't care who subscribes to their services. They advertise all over everything. Look at American Idol on Fox. Fact is, the former Cingular Wireless and all of the other companies that make up the AT&T family of companies can benefit from having the 3-D globe on a Nascar.

AT&T should (and already did) win the case. There is nothing contractual that keeps a company from changing it's logo. Nextel just doesn't like the state of their diminishing clientelle and thought they should wine about it.

The gorilla thing...Yeah, Nascar isn't necessarily a gorilla, but Nextel definitely is.

Not sure of the number of lawsuits pending against NASCAR, am just hoping their lawyers can beat up those of the opposition. Since my LAN line is AT&T and carries my ISP, I am not about to cancel service, but am pretty well fed up with these corporate dumbkoffs which want to control rather than sponsor sports. AT&T deal with Nextel on the business field, not the track, leave that to the drivers or I will dump my LAN, Nextel cell and go cable or sat for the net as I am deaf to the death knell of 20 year old NASCAR and I drink a lotta Bud for current DEIty and future Junior and saw my first Indy up close and personal about 50 years ago.
Screw the testosterone/estrogen spillage and think of the sport as the sponsors can go elsewhere for corporate greed as new ones will emerge for the continuation of racing period!
Keep in mind, great sponsor gods that racing fans represent a lot of your customer bases and we can afford a sense of fair play and find alternative communications within a 12-14 second pit stop. Companies like ATT and Nextel are on their own track which should not litter the raceways with non-relevant trash; even a redneck knows that. Compete in your world, do not invade ours.
As for the weight of NASCARS gorilla, I'm about 13 stone, multiply that by statistics from Nielsen families tuned in and do the math.

Hopefully AT+T.
Nascar could give a flying crap if it's AT+T or Cingular. There just trying to uphold there contract with Nextel. Afterall, Nextel is the TITLE SPONSOR. If Nascar just let them put AT+T on the car then they would be sued by Nextel. It's the lesser of two evil's. It's a shame that Nascar is stuck in the middle but that's business.

NO.

NO.

NASCAR made a mistake goin with Nextel as the series sponsor because they are losing on on several major sponsors with like everyone having a cell company now.

Whatever the contract says is the answer. I'm assuming there wasn't a clause in the contract between Nextel/NASCAR, so I guess it comes down to what the Judge thinks.

I hope AT&T gets the green light to go ahead on this one. I am tired of huge billion dollar corporations whining and crying about competition. It would be nice to see some sponsorship go to open wheel teams, but Nascar knows how to market stuff. They've definitely learned how to do that in the last 20 years.

or how about telling chevy they have to let toyota put their sticker on all avalanches and impalas?

so why should nextel be ok with an at&t car running around the track for a nextel cup race,

yes they should take there money and run, maybe put it on a indy car or even a superbowl commercial

and nascar is far bigger than the 3400 lb gorila, its even bigger than jane goodals ***

1. Call NASCAR's legal department.

2. Hell no, wishful thinking Indy fan. Demographics? Son, you just don't know what you are talking about.

3. I believe 800 pound Gorilla is the usual colloquialism; and you bet they are. However, sadly, Brian France is as brain dead as Tony George and like Tony, having inherited a gold mine is not doing so well with it.
