Yes, and so do vet techs. You're bound to be bitten by the animals you come into contact with most often. I've only been bitten twice. One a bad bite, and one just a nip while I was handling dogs for someone else. Most animals are not happy going to the vet, and some are injured. This usually brings out defensive or aggressive biting in animals that aren't usually biters. Most vets and assistants try to get the animal relaxed before handling by talking to and petting the animal and chatting with the owners before attempting treatment.

They get caught out occasionally, Anyone who works with animals and owners judges a possible biter more by it's owners attitude to the pet and how they handle it than by the species or breed. They put dogs into group rather than breed, a Terrier is first and foremost a terrier whether it's a Miniature Yorkie or an Airedale, A rottweiller and a german shepherd are 'guards' they also know why and when any dog may bite and the dog in pain is THE most likely. Good ones rarely get bitten, but no-one is infallible not even Vets! Most Vets keep up their tetanus vaccinations or in the US their rabies shots! Not all owners can be told their 'little darling' should be muzzled!
Cat's are far more dangerous, if you've ever handled one that didn't want to be held you'll understand! Cat scratches are sharper than any dogs and bites may be small but they are usually deeper than a small dogs bite and cat's don't let go!

I did work experience in a vets, the vets themselves don't tend to get bitten cause they leave all the kind of stuff for the vets nurses/assistants to deal with.

Yes they do. I went to my vets just last week to pick up some heartworm meds. and my vet had her hand all bandaged. A dog bit her. A Poodle.
She was not happy.

Oh yes, as do groomers, rescuers, shelter workers, etc. Every now and then you are bound to get a biter. Good thing 99% of dogs don't bite unless absolutely necessary.

Of course! They're very careful and have lots of dog-handling experience, but unfortunately it still happens sometimes - usually when the owner doesn't warn them that their dog bites! But cats are actually more of a risk - they're very fast, very bendy and have sharp claws as well as teeth!
