If you want a definitive answer, go to family tree DNA and take the test to see where your mom's and dad's parents came from. Never mind all that stuff about dominant colors, etc. Parents can have 3 kids, one a blonde, one a redhead, one a brownette or even black-haired. Same with eye colors.

It could have come from either or both. Dark hair and dark eyes etc have a tendency to be dominant. However a lot of people are hybrid.
If a purebred dark eyed person marries a purebred blue eyed person then on the average 3 out of 4 children will have brown eyes and one will have blue or hazel eyes. Usually the one has hazel but not always. My father had pure skyblue eyes and he had a brown eyed mother and a blue eyed father. So probably my grandmother carried some very strong recessive blue eyed genes.

It depends on what color they have, what color their parents hair was (and grandparents if possible), and what color your hair is. Based on that you can determine if they were heterozygous or homozygous and if they have dominant or recessive hair colors. You can use a punnet square to help you. For example, if your father has black hair and your mother has blonde hair, then you got your hair color from your father b/c he has a dominant hair color.

The latest thing that I read is that it is determined by the number of dominant chromosomes donated by the egg and the sperm.
