Problem solved, now let us drive/fly/sail and live our lives without the pathetic, pointless guilt trip and scaremongering. Thanks.

I hope we can use alternatives, and let the oil rich mongers find other ways to maintain their luxurious lifestyles and reel in recruits for evil. Let them suffer while we live off our own resources that are replenish-able!

When something needed becomes scarce and there is no cheap and available substitute, people turn ugly. Review US History in the 1970's. The fuel crisis exerienced then would be nothing compared to what we as a planet would face if we did squander the fossil fuels we have left.

People use what they have and can afford. I want a hybrid car. BUT, I can not afford one, and even if I could there are few, if any, services in my rural area for me to purchase for that type of vehicle. When gasoline stops flowing, people like me will need more than scientific possibilites to keep going. We will need new products and services that use the new energies. This change will not be automatic or made overnight. It will take a generation to make it happen. (A very resourceful, determined and brave generation!) Get busy.

Well, if u really want to pay so much more for alternate sources, than go ahead. The reason we use oil and fossil fuels so much is b/c its the cheapest. Every alternate source has its drawbacks and benefits. Wind energy isnt strong enough and destroys habitats to make room. Solar energy costs more to maitanence and to power the US, would take a solar panel the size of Texas, some areas cant get enough solar energy or are under too many trees, they break when frozen really easy, etc. Nuclear, well, do i really have to explain that one? If u want to know why that one is bad, take a stroll through Chernoybl(sp?). Nothing else can work quite as efficiently or cheap as fossil fuels. Most of it is common sense, so please no one let a 15 year old make u look foolish.

Guilt doesn't work. Scaremongering doesn't work.

We must live green so we save the planet, but we must ALSO live well, without compromise or scarcity.

This is the wrong thing to do.

It may be green but it is not sustainable, Americans will never put up with it.

We must find a way to live green and ALSO live well. That is the challenge. Step up!

You reminded me of an excellent (and absolutely hilarious) interview with former CIA Director James Woolsey and Stephen Colbert from Comedy Central. I think you'll appreciate it. Stephen Colbert asked the same exact question.

With gas over $3/gallon everyone needs to see this video.

This was back in February 2006. So you can see where we are today, based on what he recommended over a year ago.

What do you think everyone?

Actually, we're near the breakeven point right NOW. Once it reaches the point that it's cheaper to grow fuel rather than drill for it, simple economics will dictate the changeover. We don't NEED Liberals lying to us about GlobalWarming being ALL OUR FAULT.

Global Warming: Been there, done that, got the t shirt BACK IN THE MIDDLE AGES.

yeah. And if you ran the world, it would soon become guilt free - in fact, free of any emotion, or other sign of life. Thanks.

Now go read the science and stop pretending that you can make it go away by wishful thinking
