be on time in the right uniform at all times. Do not question anything do not ask why do we have to just do it. Never ever volunteer for anything just let time past by you. With Stan from attitudes towards anyone. You should have a wonderful stay at boot camp if you do all of these.

Know your 11 general orders of a sentry. Know your chain of command. Run 1.5 miles in 13 minutes. Move with a purpose. Dont volenteer for anything. Have excellent military bearing. Learn to iron in the dark, or atleast under red lights. Pay attention to detail.
Dont stress over it. Boot camp was a joke. After about your 2nd week the rest of the weeks will fly by.

Don't stand out in the crowd, Speak when spoken to, don't let anyone know if you have a girl friend, if you smoke, quit a few weeks prior, because you won't be smoking in Boot camp. Start going to bed at 10pm and get up at 5am, stay up, take no naps. these things will help you accept the schedule, avoid embarrassment by being harassed about your girl friend, such things as taking photos and inning them up in the latrine for all to see, reading your letters you receive out loud etc. and by keeping your pie hole shut, you less likely to get singled out for an example. go with the crowd, move quickly, and don't ask questions. your not there to think or make personal statements, your no longer an Individual, you are part of the group. After basic you can start using your mind n your own again!

Mind over matter - - - set a goal and go for it, actually listen to your superiors (clean your ears soldier), put in a 100 and More Effort - - - be positive save the grumbling for when you become a Colonel (more effective then). Be prepared to sacrifice - - - eat what is healthy and keeps you strong don't give into unhealthy alternatives (eat a banana rather than a mars bar) .... Make friends with everyone along the route you never know when you might run into them later (this applies to those that might be tempted to give attitude to the person serving chow or issuing a uniform or equipment).
Most of all - - - - SUCCEED..
Peace

"Full Metal Jacket?" Today's young Marines have got nothing like that experience to look forward to.
When I went through the MCRD in San Diego nearly 20 years ago we had a much tougher go of it by today's standards. Instructors can't touch let alone curse at recruits thanks to the touchy-feely Clinton Administration.
It is still physically demanding and recruits are still required to be fit and prepared for a lot of exhersion. So the best way to prepare? Run a bunch and keep your ears open and your mouth shut. There may be no stupid questions but there are plenty of stupid people and it sucks to be singled out like that.

Keep your ears open, your mouth shut, and your head down.
Be in decent shape when you show up; you should be able to do at least 50 pushups, 70 situps, 5 chinups, and run 2 miles.
Don't try to be funny...you will just make yourself a target for the trainers. They just LOVE comedians...love to beat them, that is.
Remember, boot is mostly mental, not physical. Keep your head on straight and do your utmost and you will make it through.

I went to Navy boot camp in Great Lakes, the hardest thing we had to do was make our beds properly and fold our clothes right, other than that it was a joke. Just act like you care and no one will mess with you

Be very quick, keep your mouth closed and ears open. Be the invisible recruit! On graduation week my senior drill instructor didn't even know i was there... and then thrashed me for "hiding from him" What ever you do try to learn all you can!! you'll need everything they are there to teach.
PS.... learn your general orders!!!(if USMC ,if Army....try to get out of your contract ASAP! and become a Marine) J/k..Have fun
