My Dogs eat poop too. Premium diets. Just keep her away from it. Keep her on a leash. Get her to the vet and get her checked for parasites. If she's eating other dog's poop, she can easily get their worms.

Simple answer, because she likes it. Some will say it is because the dog is lacking something in its diet. Phooey! Dogs cannot self diagnose a nutrition problem and then prescribe and carry out a remedy. This is where obedience training would pay off as you can teach the dog the "leave it" command. Have you and the dog been to any puppy classes? Thinking of enrolling in obedience classes? A trained dog is a better pet and a safer one.

It could be a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Try adding a good puppy supplement to her diet.

Eating non-food items is called pica. Humans do it too, and it's generally caused by a deficiency of vitamins or minerals, such as iron or B vitamins.

Dave, eating non-food items is not making a diagnosis, nor is it carrying out a remedy. It is a symptom.

Welcome to the wonderful world of dog ownership! It's a very common problem. It's more of a problem for you than for your dog.

There are things you can add to their food to prevent them from eating their own poop, but keeping them from eating other dogs' poop is another story. You might try changing her diet to make sure she's getting the nutrition she needs, but chances are she will still like to eat poop.

My dog never ate dog poop, but he has ate horse poop. She may eat the poop because of what the other dog ate and may like it. Make sure your feeding her enough and right. My uncle said it was good for them because of the nutrients and vitamins, but I'm not sure.
