Lots of people eat saurkraut with bratwurst since it is the traditional item- I hate saurkraut, though- despite my Czech heritage- I just can't stomach the stuff...

I would also consider baked beans, a cabbage/cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, etc...

Hi Illtakei,

Are you grilling em? If yes I say roasted corn on the cob, tomato basil, potato salad & then anything chocolate.

Tomato basil

tomatoes sliced (depending how many peple are there), I always do 2 for self,
pour some EVOO=extra virgin olive oil,
sprinkle basil & any kinda spices you like let em set 20 minutes & eat Yummy. Have a good night. :0)

Having grown up with these, and not liking sauerkraut either, my family always had hash browns, or mashed red potatoes, or you could even make spatzel with them. Lots of grilled onions, roasted veggies (potatoes with them as well if you like) and you are set for a feast. Boiled potatoes with cheese (racklett) dusted with chopped chives or parsley, even potato salad and corn and fresh sliced tomatoes....Yummmmm!

For me a brat is just fine by itself...or accompanied by another...I like the other respondents answer - I'm German and HATE saurkraut (or however you spell it). My mom can't undrestand that. Traditional grilled and picnic foods are fine with it as well. I personally like mine at the Jake, covered in stadium mustard and onions.

Well, I make my own Brats and my own Kraut, but the Irish in me always makes me serve red potatoes with them. I poach mine in beer and onions for a bit too before grilling them.

since I steep mine in dark beer & onions then toss them on the grill I don't always have mine with sides, but I do serve saurkraut, caramelized onions, macaroni salad or whatever is requested by family or guests....
