It just seems like religion is something you inherit from your parents, where I come from the government labels you according to your believes. Now my parents are Muslims and for some reason I am supposed to be so, and it really annoys me that I have to be labeled according to what my parents believe in, when I drink, I party, my conviction is “live and let live” and I don’t believe in 99% of what Muslims say the rest is the 1% common with every other religion on the planet. The question is do you believe that you’ve inherited ur religion????

I inherited NO religion whatsioever from my parents. They left that decision completely up to me. After many years of searching I found Islam and recently reverted. I have never been happier.

yes you do, God is the same always and forever and His chosen people worshiped Him with a religion, He never told them not to, Jesus said that your righteousness had to surpass that of the scribes and Pharisees He never condemned their religion ,its just that they got away from the truth and started adding too many legalities. Not worshipping God in a religious manner is a relatively new teaching, and you have to be careful about new teachings.

Agreed.
Most religion statistics are based on what you inherited from your parents. That is why atheists actually have lower crime statistics and higher IQ and education statistics. It has nothing to do with believing in God or not belieiving in God - it has to do with the fact that the overwhelming majority of people, smart and dumb, educated and uneducated, inherit the religion of their parents. Converts and deconverts of all faith make up the small percentage of intelligent and (usually) educated folks who care enough about abstract concepts to make a decision. Atheism just happens to be a statistic that is almost entirely made up of deconverts.

No I did not inherit my faith. I grew up in a home where we did not have any religious beliefs.
I became a Christian when I was 20 yrs old.

My parents were foaming-at-the-mouth Christian fundamentalists and I rejected their religion as soon as I began to think for myself. Sounds like you did too.
