I already know English, but it is certainly one of the most useful languages. My second choice is Chinese as it is extremely easy, and yet rather useful (only >1.3 billion people in the world speak it). Japanese may be more useful as if one can read Japanese one can read a lot of Chinese, but I find Japanese too daunting. Then again, Persian sounds like a cool language, and with all the conflict in the middle east, the state department must love someone who can speak Persian so...

Basically, I would choose all of them! I do love languages.

I already speak English, and I'm fluent in Japanese. If I didn't know Japanese, what would I want to be fluent in? I'd still say Japanese. That way I'd still be able to communicate with relatives in JPN as well as be a part of an ever growing technological society in JPN.

depending on what your using it for? Chinese good for the new world as china is stepping it up in the world with the recent rise of their economy.

Japanese would be great for someone into electronics or would want to do business over seas in the animation, electronics department, but china is totally taking over again

Persian, sorry love the middle eastern languages but a waste unless your family is from there...

English, well everyone speaks English now a days.. right?

Chinese

For one I'm learning Japanese. The characters are similar to Chinese. Second I think it's harder for people who start off speaking english to learn things besides the love languages quickly without extreme ambition. English is being taught everywhere so... you'd end up having to learn it anyway.

Ehhh....The end? :)

I love the English language. It has a long history and has been enriched by many other cultures. It is flexible and constantly changing.
