I have been to many countries in Europe and am not close to being 95. What angers me about your question is not more then 10 mins ago I answered a question about Europe and said how I love visiting there especially Germany of which I worked there for 8 years. And now you form a continent that has started more wars and killed more people in the history of mankind. My friend the only unpopular people her are you and people like you, your why Americans including myself are wondering what happened to the great palce called Europe.

Why are we unpopular? I can tell you. We supposedly the land of the free. That's gettin' tough now with the illegals coming in. Everyone talks bad about America but why is it everyone is having a FIT to come here let me ask you that question? What is it that's so appealing to other countries to beg, borrow or steal to get here HUH? But yet other countries can sit back and talk about us over here on the USA ground and make fun. Sounds to me like there is a jealous bug and that bug is green with envy. Everything here isnt all rosy and snug as these other countries think. We have problems just like any other country. I had rather live here in American soil than any other place on this planet and I am proud to fly my American flag no matter who in other countries think. I was born an American and I shall die the same way.

The country on top always goes through cycles of unpopularity, but with over 6 billion people on the planet, how would anyone know Americans -- or anyone else -- are "the most unpopular people in the world?" Other people aren't in our shoes. Could we be doing better? Sure. Nevertheless, immigration pressure is high. People undertake great personal risk to make their way here, sometimes walking halfway up a continent, hiding in inhospitable compartments of vehicles, crossing seas on ill-conceived vessels, etc. Usually, it's our government that incites cycles of unpopularity, through one or more policies others don't agree with, and sometimes it's just resentment over our success.
Aside from Iraq, we now have the fiction of human-caused global warming directing ire our way. 6% of the world's population causing 25% of the world's anthropogenic carbon release and all that. Such criticism neglects to point out that this share of carbon anthropogenic carbon emission is both miniscule as a proporation of all natural sources, and that it is emitted by a country that also represents over a quarter of the world's total economic output, which billions of people depend on continuing. Moreover, such critics neglect to point out that this very same country is over twice as efficient in its energy use per unit of economic output than it was in 1970, and getting more so.
People from small countries criticize us for having large vehicles, which again are -- for their class and size -- more than twice as efficient as they were 30 years ago and are continuing to become more efficient still. The same people have no idea what it is like to live in a free country of 3.5 million square miles with lots of open space and a distributed population.
Should we hate the Brits for conceiving and building 12 mpg AWD Range Rovers? The Italians for building 8 mpg high performance Ferraris and Lamborghinis? The Germans for making wasteful dreadnaught Mercedes, Maybach, Audi sedans and stupidly heavy Porsche SUVs? Should we hate the Chinese when they surpass us in carbon output in 2 - 3 years? Should we despise people in countries that can't organize themselves for peaceful resolution of domestic disagreements? Well, no. You don't, for the most part, hear American's holding those kinds of grudges. We go out and engage the world, and most of the time we help.
To the person who dislikes President Bush and who believes it will take generations to renew respect for America, history says "not so." We heard this same thing during the Vietnam War and less than a decade after leaving the world was looking to us to do something about the Soviets invading Afghanistan, and about the wave of terror that swept through Europe between 1972 - 1988 or so.
We can't be responsible for what everyone else thinks. Sometimes our global responsibilities lead us to make what look like egregious errors to people who live elsewhere. But there is one huge mitigating circumstance: we have elected governments that are put up for vote at specific intervals. Bush has certain qualities that are frustrating and alienating to many people. Whomever his successor is, we'll see a change of direction and a different form of engagement with the rest of the world. As for the environmental issues, the fixes are already in play. Global warming won't be affected at all by the market forces that will drive more energy efficiency into our system, but we'll gain other benefits. America cleaned its air and water before Europe or anyone else did. Some will like the effects of continued improvements, but I can assure you many energy-producing countries will dislike us when our demand for foreign energy abates.
There's always something....

Try as I can, the only word I can think of, to describe your question is "stupid." We have been trying to figure out what to do with 12 million illegal immigrants in this country right now. If the US were so unpopular, why are they here? There are millions of people, in many countries of the world, trying to get into the US legally. It can cost as much as $10,000 and may take as long as eight years for an alien to get to the US as a legal immigrant. If those people dislike the US, why do they bother?
I personally don't care if anyone dislikes me. Just don't mess with me.

What hole is your head stuck in?
Most Americans are proud of being unpopular. When there's a massive cyclone or tsunami, and a million people are about to starve to death we're pretty popular then, right?

I've travelled Europe. It's ok. I don't mind being unpopular. I stick to my guns (since I have the right to carry them) and voice my own opinion (since I have the right to say them) and to Hades with the rest (since they have the right to do whatever they want).

I wish we were... then maybe we wouldn't have the illegal problem that we have... but no.. people still want to come here

I personally don't care what anyone thinks of my country. I just wish all those that hate the USA would just stay in their own little perfect country's and stop coming here by the multi millions. The opinion of any one doesn't affect my love and respect for my nation. Its strange I don't hear many Americans that really care about Europe one way or another. I have traveled and lived all over the world. And trust me people aren't dying to get into Europe. But they risk life and limb to get into the USA. We must have something they like don't you think.? Your question to me is really kind of silly because most Americans don't care what other country's think of us. Think anything you like ,we here in the USA,know the truth.
