After-market radios usually allow for easier expandability; ie, the ability to add additional amplifiers, satellite radio, i-Pod or auxiliary connections, Bluetooth cell-phone kits, and so on. They also allow for more fine-tuning of your system, with built in EQ's instead of simple bass and treble controls.

In modern vehicles, after-market head units do NOT automatically mean better sound quality (although they may allow you to adjust the sound to your preference more easily). Most factory radios now have about as much power as after-market replacements--more power in the case of premium systems like the Boston Acoustics system available in the Charger. Factory systems often out-perform after-market systems in radio tuner performance as well.

You can get excellent sound when adding amplifiers to a factory system as long as you use a good quality line-out converter. There's no reason a subwoofer system added to a factory radio wouldn't get as loud as one used with an after-market deck; but the after-market deck would give you a dedicated subwoofer volume control.

u would lose clarity and easy install. stock decks dont have amp pre-outs, usually less power, and not as good of an eq setting
