Jail time for mentioning God in an expression in a courtroom . Suspended from school for Praying silently on school grounds. Banned from placing Nativity scenes in their yards . Having the microphone cut off while you are giving a Valedictorian speech at your graduation for mentioning Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Can`t take your Bible with you to school and in some places work to read on break . In general just as your question assumes , degraded and accused for any expression of their Faith at any time , at any place , anywhere , etc , etc. !!! You need go no further than Yahoo Answers` in the Religion & Spirituality category to see all the vulgar and degrading persecuting statements made about Christians ; They are all here !! And dare I forget Christian " FREE SPEECH " has almost been persecuted into non - existance...Do You even know the definition of "persecution" ?? PERSECUTION -To afflict constantly so as to injure or distress , as for reasons` of religion , race ..

John 15:18-25. Christians or hated by the world.Jesus said "If you find the godless world is hating you, remember they got their start from me.If Christians lived on the worlds terms, the world would love us as its own.But since I picked you to live on God's terms and no longer on the worlds terms the world hates you and persecutes you! But when that happens remember one thing:servants do not get better treatment than their masters. If they beat on me,they will certainly beat on you (if not physically but also mentally.)If they did what I told them, they will do what you told them. They are going to do all these things to you because of the way they treated me, because they do not except the one that sent me, God.If I had not come and left my word (Bible) it speaks in plain language,it would not be so bad.As it is,the world has no excuse.hate me ,hate the Father--it is all the same. The world see the God Signs and hate anyway, both me and my Father. Man has verified the truth of their own scriptures where it is written,"They hated me for no good reason".Matthew 10:11-42. Do not be naive ,some people will impuge your motives, others will smear your reputation-just because one believes in the Christ Jesus.Do not get upset when they haul you before others like them, some also in civil authority,.Without knowing it they are giving you a platform to tell your story about the Love od God. Do not worry about what to say the spirit of the Lord will give you the words. when people realize it is the living God you are representing and not some idol or religion that makes them feel good, they are going to turn on you, even people in your own family. This is a great irony;proclaiming so much love, experiencing so much hate! But we are strong in the Lord and through his power we do not quit. We will not cave in! It will be all will worth it in the end.In these times it is not success we are after it is survival. Before we run out of options Jesus will return. Christians are not intimidated.eventually everything will be out in the open, and everyone will no how things really are.If the head of the house is called a devil, how much more the members of his household.Christians should not be bluffed into silence by threats of bullies. Save ones fear for God,who holds ones entire life-body and soul-in his hands. Stand up for God against world opinion and Jesus will stand up for us before God! If we turn tail and run then that leaves us uncovered.Jesus did not come to make life cozy,he came to cut like a sharp- knife.Well-meaning family and people can be your worst enemies. We must go all the way with Jesus. Because we put him first over all else,we are persecuted!

Well I am from Canada and although I don't know that I would call it persecution I know that in the school system children often learn about Hinduism, Buddhism and more. They learn about Jewish celebrations and came have a menorrah in the school, or paint their hands for other celebrations.
BUT they can not call it Christmas, show a nativity scene or have a cross in the school.
I know this because I have nieces and nephews in the school system and my Mom and Sister are both secretaries in Elementary schools.
So I don't think this is right at all, if you teach any, you teach things about all the religions that are represented in your class/school or none of them.

I honestly believe that white, middle-class American Christians have nothing to be upset, angry, or even feel persecuted about. More and more, we're seeing them infiltrate government. This bs about the "liberal, secular-humanist war on Christians" is every bit as fictional as the "liberal media" is. They have every right to worship, every right to do anything they like, really, and yet, nothing is good enough. They want to turn the country back to some kind of Christian ideal which never really existed here, and get angry when we don't roll over and let them put prayer in schools, disallow abortions, make Christianity the official religion of the country, and basically negate the Constitution in favor of God's law over man's law. They have it great here, and they don't even know it. Wonder if they'd be able to handle being Christians in Iran, or anywhere in the Middle East, where Christianity really IS persecuted....

They're not persecuted. If someone doesn't agree with them or criticizes what they believe, they consider that persecution. Christians are the majority in this country. I think it's the right wing fundamentalist that believe that because I have neither felt nor been persecuted in my life.

They are not being persecuted, the fact they claim persecution is a slap in the face to all those who have been tortured and killed in the name of Christianity, most recently in: China, Guatemala, Albania, Vietnam, and Cambodia. They think that just because they can not have everything their way it is persecution, try telling that to people who have really been persecuted.

They aren't.
To them, persecution is when other religions stand up for themselves and say "No, you can't do that because it isn't fair for non-christians." Religious equality is persecution to Christians...nevermind the fact that it is unfair to other beliefs.
I say keep your religions to yourself. Worship with your families, in your churches, where ever...but don't expect everyone to bend over backwards for you. And that goes for EVERY religion.
America is a FREE country. Keep your non-secular mindsets to yourself. Sure, some of the founding fathers might have been Christian...but they still didn't write the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights in a way that allows one religion to spiritually enslave another. Try to twist it as you may...they didn't.

Christians in general are not persecuted in America. But there are specific cases of "Christianism" (akin to racism) that happen.
Like when I was a kid I had an Athiest teacher. She knew my dad was a preacher. I dropped my pencil under my desk and she yelled at me in front of the class, "What's wrong Robinson, you forget to pray at home? Well you can't do it here!" and she laughed at me and made me stand in front of the class and write "I will not pray at school." on the board 50 times.
That was not because I was a bad student, because I was in the 5th grade but her class was 8th grade work. I was just the target of her hate of all things Christian. It wasn't fair. It was embarrassing. And I cried every day before I went to her class.
