it depends if you own your medallion or you drive for someone else. Around $40K if you drive for someone else (standard 6 day/ 12 hours). Medallions go for $400K+ now, so most are owned by companies.

From what I've heard, a lot of them don't make much that's why they work really long shifts. The cost of keeping the car, etc., is what eats up a lot of money. I could be wrong though. A friend of mine drove a cab just outside NYC in Yonkers and didn't make much.

today's local economy makes owning a car in NYC very expensive, so much, it not most of what they take home has to go to fuel and maitenance.
Dont forget, cabs are not exempt from tickets either so they have to deal with that as well.
Most drivers want their own medallion, but it costs alot, so many become "gypsy" cabs

I have been told by a NY cabbie that he grossed over 70K per year. He worked 6 days per week and usually 9 or 10 hours per day
