There's Catholicism, Protestantism, various Orthodox sects, and Gnosticism. Amongst Protestantism there's Fundamental/Evangelical Christianity, Conservative Christianity, Non-denominational and then there's Liberal Christianity. And amongst Protestantism there's many different sects which of course means many different interpretations and teachings which could confuse anybody. Then there's so many interpretations of the bible as the bible has been reedited many times as well as scriptures that were left out. Therefore how do you expect people to choose Christianity as their religion or walk of life as some of you might like to say? Now before going on the attack as many like to do this isn't a question that's meant to insult anybody. So if you're gonna insult me then don't bother answering the question.

I am a Christian and am therefore opposed to religion. I do not want people to adopt any religion, even if the word Christian is attached to it. I do not want anyone to adopt a faith. I dot convert people. People are not cars where you put on new accessories e.g. "Look, Joe has Christianity to go with his new job". I also cannot change people's minds about anything. Only they can change their minds about something. I hate the word "convert".

Being a Christian is about entering into a relationship with Jesus Christ, not the Bible. Also, you are mistaken that there are many different interpretations of the Bible. There are Christians, real and fake, who disagree on some of the issues, but almost always they agree on the life, teachings death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Christians do not teach people to believe in a book. We show with our lives why they should follow Jesus Christ, who loves them as they are, and who does not expect them or want them to follow a million burdensome rules. Although there is a huge amount of evidence inside and outside the Bible to prove the claims of Christians, almost no one ever becomes Christian because of the evidence. Most see the evidence after being born again and being taught directly by God. Somehow people are almost completely blind before meeting the living God. Most people become Christians rather naively and when their lives are transformed and the way they see the world, the people in it, themselves, money, death and life itself (among other things), they are astounded. Christians cannot help, in spite of the sins we may commit still, to be completely transformed people. It is this transformation that draws people to Jesus Christ, not a book (correctly or incorrectly translated, compiled or interpreted). It is the fake Christians who drive people away from Jesus Christ because they use His name and do everything He hates. We can only do what Jesus Christ wants us to do if He dwells in us, if we invite Him in.

So, basically, we draw people to Jesus Christ just by being who Christ has made us and continues to make us. When people see Christ in us, they are drawn to Him. It is as though we are dead and Christ lives in our place.

Lets clear one thing up first. There are many denominations in the Christian Church NOT sects. These could be due to splits or other things. Christianity is about Christ Jesus. If a denomination teaches biblical truths, then it is still part of the body of Christ. A pastor had a good breakdown of numbers for similarity between denominations. They are 90% similar & 10% different. As for the bible translations question. When translating, you must keep words as close to context as possible. I have a New Testemant Bible and a lot of the passages in there are different than in the New International Version for example. The passage says the same thing, just using different wording. What scriptures left out? Are you refering to the DaVinci Code or gnosticism? Why should someone choose Christianity over some other faith? Look into it and you will see that is the most correct of all faiths. It explains origins, science, theology etc. Hope this answers your question.

The best way to gain converts is to practice what you preach. Sometimes I think Ghandi was right when he said one day. I am paraphrasing here so please indulge me. Christianity is one of the greatest religions known to mankind but I have yet to see anyone living up to the ways of its founder.I do not blame others that do not choose Christianity. If I had seen so many years ago what I see now in people's treatment of one another then I would have a difficult time choosing it as well. You are right in saying that there are many different interpretations it can be confusing. But maybe there are so many because there is more than one interpretation possibly to find the Way and Truth and the Life that people grasp to find meaning in their lives.

We are not trying to convert people to our religion. We are trying to lead people to JESUS the one true God. Most denominations try to get new believers to come to their church so that they can be taught the Bible according that denomination's views, but except for Catholicism, Mormonism and JWs who try to convert people to their RELIGION, Christians just want people to know about the Creator and how much He loves us. We believe that the only truth on spiritual matters comes from the Bible, and that is what we share.

gnostics aren't Christians. there's 65 catholic denominations, 75 orthodox and yes, a lot of protestant and miscellaneous. who cares? there's different kinds in every religion and this was even prophesied to happen in the parable of the mustard seed, the birds being influences and ideologies.

converts come. I witness, I clarify, I help who wants it. I don't 'make' converts. they decide on their own. if they desire a relationship with God, they'll come, whether or not they agree with everything I say.

Dear Cerebral Assassin,
I rarely answer questions ,however I did feel I needed to clear up a few things First of all while Gnosticism has a christian cosmology it is Not a christian faith. Second no one can tell you what to believe study all the ones that speak to your heart and the one closest to your heart will reveal it self to you.

From your list: Adventists, some Calvinists, and the Roman Catholics (sort of). Those are the only members of your list who claim to be "true Christians" in contrast to other denominations, and even they tend to extend the definition of Christianity to theoretically include most other denominations. A common myth is that each Christian denomination claims to be "true Christianity." That isn't true - the vast majority of them are independently governed, but do not regard all other denominations as "false Christians." Most of them, in fact, recognize the validity of all other denominations. The differences are usually nothing more than social convention, in the same sense that some people prefer one bowling league over another. When you see the words "true Christian," it is usually a reference to Christians who adhere to the teachings of Jesus vs. those who call themselves "Christians" but do not adhere to the teachings of Jesus. In that context, the term has nothing to do with multiple denominations.

There are two options. A Christian can either say that all denominations are a path to god, which is impossible when the different denominations contradict one another. Or, they can say that they're right and all the other denominations are wrong...and that's about the point I stop listening to them (At least I listen to the first type of Christian).

God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.( leaving religion out of it)
Read whatever interpretation of the Bible you wish as they all are saying the same thing which is from God.
it isnot about converting anyone to a denomination, it is about helping save souls, living a Godly life and it is about God Almighty.
God Bless-

Dude, you can eat cutlets anywhere in the world, but none of them taste like mum used to make.

What I'm trying to say is, sure there are millions of sects, but so what, a convert will naturally join whichever sect brought him into the fold.
