I use to work for the drug company; Pfizer. One of the things we learned during our classes in pharmacology was that OTC medication (like acetaminophen) retains 100% of its potency for 12-18 months after the expiration date listed on the container. So assuming you purchased the medication in 2005...the expiration date listed on the bottle should be at least until 2007 (most OTC medications have 2 year shelf life. And if you are saying that the tablets expired in 2005 you still have that 18 month buffer.

So the answer is.....yes the are still good. And after the 18 month buffer the drug will lose about 50% of it's potency so it would be a good idea to buy new ones.

Maybe. It should have an expiry date on it. If it's expired, acetaminophen is cheap enough that you can chuck it out and get some fresh. Taking expired medication often means you aren't getting the help you need.

There should be an expiration date on the bottle. If it expired in 2005, then no, it is not good. Ewwww.

They should have an expiration date somewhere on the bottle. If not and you have tried taking some with no effect then toss them out and go out and get yourself some new ones.

BTW, don't listen to the "ewwws". If you did take and old medication, it won't harm you.
