Atheist here.

Only one thing?

There's more than one.

Ugliness brings me to the bashing point. The really hateful disgusting things I read on here -- not just about religion, but in general. Things that advocate violence and other abuse of people (some of the things people say about blacks, and women spring to mind).

Another thing, in this category, is when a believer poses some question attributing to me completely idiotic beliefs I don't have.

If a believer wants to know what I think, they can ask me.

But listening to some moron tell them what I think, and then repeating that nonsense here, as though it's what I think, drives me up the wall.

If you want to understand, say, evolution, then find out -- not from those who deny it, from people who actually understand it.

Another thing that makes me bashy is the notion that believers have the right to either force everyone to live by their insane ideas, or to constantly harangue and harass the rest of us.

Why can't they just believe I'll burn forever and let it go at that?

It's not as though I've never before heard of god, so they're giving me my one chance.

I've heard, believe me.

Hundreds of thousands of times, at least.

Most of the time I post within the Guidelines and avoid insulting people or not answering the question.

But now and then, I do imply certain flaws in others on this site.

On the other hand, once in a while someone asks a genuine question, and really does want to understand.

Those people I LOVE.

I am a Hindu, and I believe that all religions are paths to God. This doesn't mean that I agree with everything that every religion teaches, but I am open-minded and try to be tolerant and respectful of all religions, and also Atheism. Since I feel that tolerance is so important, the hardest thing for me to deal with is intolerance. I have a hard time keeping my temper down when I see blatant religious arrogance. I hate it when people criticize my, or any other, religion, when they clearly do not know enough about the religion to even understand it. It takes a lot of study and experience to really understand a religion, and yet some people make these outlandish presumptions based on the smallest amount of information (usually misinformation) and that gets me mad!

But what really helps me is to remember, that I once did the same thing! (And probably still do, unaware). So then I try to be patient. But I don't always succeed.

Well, its Kaliko again.
There are some questions, wherein it is obvious the questionner knows the answer.
Worse, the questionner asks a silly question to which the answer is obvious.
Its a waste.
I'm here for serious discussion .....with a bit of humor, but serious discussion.
I do not suffer fools.

I am a Christian and I do not believe I have bashed anyone, but I come close when I read a question that is hate filled and racist.
I see them often in Y!A and mostly i just ignore it, but sometimes I tell them they are racist and how disgusted I am with their question.

I can get a little hostile when religious folk begin proselytizing, especially in venues where they really shouldn't be proselytizing. (Like in Yahoo Answers, for instance.)

It just really aggravates me when people feel they are 'above the rules'. It's one of my personal pet peeves.

i'm an atheist and the one and ONLY thing that brings me to that point is when people attempt to tell me i'm wrong and to force their beliefs on me. i have no respect for people like that, and i have no problem letting them know it.

I am not a basher. Three things bother me - racism, homophobia, and bigotry.

Atheist
