They are somewhat rough around the edges. I'm not ripping on them, but they aren't the cultured type. Family of 4 with 2 kids. My apartment complex does absolutely nothing about noise complaints and the police in my city do even less (they can't do a thing unless they can hear noise fom 100 feet away outside the complex and the outer walls are pure concrete). We learned this lesson the hard way because we had to move to another apartment in our complex after management refused to do anything about our noisy neighbors. Now the place we moved to is just as bad. Loud music, loud bangs, etc. We are very quiet and peaceful folks. I live with my grandmother. I do expect to hear some noise because i live in an apartment, but nobody should have to hear rude and excessive noise. The walls are like paper. Our lease is up on November 1st. How should I deal with this in the meantime? I am a peaceful guy, but I also have a guitar amp. I've never played dirty like that before though. Suggestions?

Asking nicely is always the first option to try. It usually works. If not, then officially complain to the manager but don't start a pissing contest by being louder - that is childish and will accomplish nothing.

Were do you live? This may help me find the law in your area..Get an law into place.. eep I feel you. We moved to a house..^^. Some people are so flipping rude and no care to how they effect others. the normal noise ordnance is from 9:00am to 10:00. But if they are disturbing your peace you have a right to complain to the police department. They take 30mins to an hour to comply and talk to them. I know allot about this area because I could not deal with the amount of noise. One neighbor had surround around and we were the base to his sound.. ugg.. I called the police.. The other neighbor was a day sleeper so he was loud at night. The police are obligated to help. They are peace officers..Go above them and talk to your police dispatch as well as check your laws. sigh.. Were do you live.. Washington??
Good luck. Feel free to email me and I will do what I can to direct you in the proper area.. or leave more info on your question thanks. Blessings to you and your grandma..

Living in an apartment always has the risk of noise trouble, so the best is to live in a one family house, but if you can't afford that, a mobile home might be an opportunity. Many people in apartments have noise trouble.
The government should do much more about this problem.
F.I. build better apartments or have more rules. And kick people out who don't behave themselves.
You sound like a good guy living with your grandmother.
I hope you'll find a better place to live.

I would go over and explain that your grandmother lives with you and that the loud music makes her nervous. If there is any way they could keep the noise down you would greatly appreciate it. Especially after a particular hour because she goes to bed early or takes a nap, etc. Most reasonable people will understand that and try to oblige you. Just be a polite as you possibly can.

Sorry to hear that. I, too, live in an apt. but they are really
strict here. I guess they have to be strict, otherwise it would
be really bad here. Some people in this building would go
crazy if it was allowed (I can just tell.)

Try to find an apt. Nov. l that is VERY quiet, and known for
that. If you really can't stand it, contact a housing authority
in your area and ask how to make a formal complaint.

Sorry to say but your description of apartment living is normal. If you don't like the noise, then you need to find yourself a Single Family Home. If this is out of your price range, then a mobile home on a rural piece of land works well. Quite, in recent experience, is a luxury that takes some sacrifice to obtain.

In my part of the country, it's kind of an unwritten rule to just bang on the wall if the neighbors are being loud. Sometimes they just need a gentle (nonconfrontational) reminder. If that doesn't work, I would try talking to them.

IT depends because if they aren't nice u should ask them politely. Example: Sorry to interrupt but i was wondering if u could put the volume a little lower. But if they act rudely then talk to the owner of the complex. If they are nice then they will probably stop by the first interruption.

Unless they are being loud during quiet time hours, that is the life of living in an apartment.

IF they are being loud during quiet time hours, complain constantly to the apartment office and police until they do something about it.
