I can't give you a statistic. I know tons died in Rome during the early centuries, in China I heard the persecution is now starting to weaken, in most middle eastern countries don't get me started...
I'll come back to you on the statistic. perhaps persecution.org has the stats...

I doubt if anyone knows an exact number. Thousands were killed in the early Christian centuries, and martyrdom has continued at various times throughout history. The time of the Protestant Reformation saw many Christian martyrs - both Catholics and Protestants. The time of the change from Monarchy to Democracy saw many martyrs. And to this day, there are groups of persecuted Christians in many countries.

In the beginning of the religion Christians were killed in Roman times because of their faith.
Since then, there have been the Christians who's beliefs have not been "mainstream" such as agnostics ect. that were killed by other Christians. However it was really done to grab land...so I'm not sure it was because of their faith. Mainly, since the Roman times, it has really been Christians killing Christians because of differences in interpretation. Muslems have killed Christians, but in the 100 year war it was in defense of their own land. There have been people who believe they are dying for their faith..like in Jones Town...so I think to die for ones faith is interpretational.

Only God can answer that question correctly as only He knows who is a Christian. He can add one more to the number if being Christian is cause to be put to death I will lay down my life rather than to deny Christ or to compromise my faith.

A few hundred, maybe, and that's probably an overestimate.
How many non-Christians have died because of Christianity?
