Sure, if it's God's will. And as for the touching question, the only thing required in Bible (and therefore the only thing the elders who are responsible for the person as a member of their church ought to do) is anoint them with oil, and pray that God would heal them. And if it's God's will that they be healed physically, it will absolutely happen. If it isn't, then it won't. No more complex, no simpler.

Laying on of hands is more likely to be the beginning of an STD...
OH, you mean as in healing...well, for that, you ought to go to a good doctor and let him/her lay on hands.
The preacher or other Christian needs to simply fold his/hers and pray.

based on how i understand the healing through laying of hands, that part (the laying) was just an external manifestation... what matters most is the faith of the patient, healer, and other people that God can possibly heal the person without any hesitancy

In the days of the apostle it would have been possible but now that gift has been done away with. It was a infant gift of the church. Faith healing is a lie. the bible does not teach that.

God can heal any disease all you need is faith, some people have been used by God as instruments of His healing power and they do not have to touch the affected area to heal the sick person.
