And I don't mean a simple kick in the shin by another kid in the school yard... I mean PERSECUTED. Have you ever claimed to have rocks thrown at you every day, or to have an angry mob chase after you with torches and pitchforks, or to have that same mob tie you to a wooden post and set a bundle of sticks ablaze under your feet?

Have any of us EVER made that claim?

physical (adj): Of or relating to the body as distinguished from the mind or spirit. See Synonyms at bodily.

persecute (verb): to pursue with harassing or oppressive treatment; harass persistently.

Well, AISI, Zero, you and I agree pretty well everything, and no, I've not seen an R&S'er say this... But, atheists *have been* physically persecuted by "Positive Xian" Hitler and more, and I HAVE stated *that*... (BRB)

"For example, in the 20th century, atheists, socialists, communists, were persecuted alongside Jews by the Nazis, who lumped all of these terms into one complex issue or theme; 'the Jewish-Bolshevik world conspiracy', as addressed in Joseph Goebbels' 1935 speech." [1]

"During the late Roman Empire, atheism — a capital crime — was a common legal prosecution against Christians by henotheists" [2]

"Once appointed to the Chancellorship of Germany, Hitler banned freethought organizations and launched an “anti-godless” movement. In a 1933 speech he declared: “We have . . . undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out." [2]

Nope, not physical. Just verbal harassment when I was a teen, by groups of two or larger.
Whatever my views on religion, I am glad to be living in a country where I'm not physically persecuted.

No.

I would hate to think what would happen in some areas of the US if I wore a sign, proclaiming I am an atheist though. A body guard might be in order.

Yeah, yet the two way, i individually do no longer think of it is that considerable what human beings kill interior the call of besides. Hatred is hatred. Violence is violence. the two way, the finished line of arguing many times stems from a mistaken attempt at making institutions. the two: What i've got self belief is sweet, as a results of fact good human beings have believed what i've got self belief, or: What you have self belief is undesirable, as a results of fact undesirable human beings believed what you have self belief. the two way, till you're speaking a pair of concept it is inherently racist or violent, which includes Nazism, i think of the finished line of argumentation is invalid besides.

I don't think any atheist ever, in the history of mankind, has made that claim.

We could invent it though. They couldn't even blame us. I mean, they invent an entire God, which by itself is the biggest straw man argument ever.

Have any christian claimed this? Just wondering. Prosecution doesn't have to be physical. Being ostracized from your community can be just as devastating to any human.

And no, I wouldn't think so.

Not that I recall. Of course, strawman arguments tend to be a Y!A R&S "Christian" specialty.
