My sister-in-law bought a 37" HDTV. Did not buy any kind of HDMI cable. Comcast gave them a cable when they got the box for HDTV. I was told when I bought mine (to be delivered next month) that I would need the HDMI cable, by the store. I want to be sure and have everything I need when they deliver it, but I'm kinda mixed up now as to buy or not to buy a cable for it. I was thinking of buying the cable and taking it back if I don't need it. Can anyone advice me of the best thing to do? Thank you.

I see eforcity has a deal for 3 cables. Since I have 3 HDMIs, would this be the package I should buy. They are all "gold plated", whatever that is worth. Sorry to sound so dumb, but we want to get it right and,of course, we are not too smart setting up tvs.

An HDMI will give you a technicaly better signal going from your cable box to your TV. Having said that, the unquestionable better signal translates into a dubiously better picture. I have been doing this a while and I can tell the diference between HDMI and GOOD component cables. It is just a matter of how good you want your good picture to be, and what it is worth to you.

As far as your cables go, there can be a HUGE diference in quality depending on not only what kind of connection you are using, but the grade of wires you are plugging in. Talking about HDMI cables, Component cables, Audio Interconnect Cables, Speaker Wire....saying that "a wire is a wire" is flat out untrue. If the more expensive wire is worth a relative lot of money for a relative little increase in performance is all subjective. For some people it isn't worth $50/month to upgrade to digital cable to give you twice as good a picture as analog. Other people will spend $2000 on an upgraded power cord for high efficiency and low distortion for their DVD player.
A $25 tire for your car might be fine on a Yugo, but it probably just won't cut it on a Mazzaratti.
A $25 bottle of wine really is NOT the same as a $250 bottle. It really isn't. It is just a matter of if the $225 price jump is worth it to you.

I would say this, when you bought your HDTV, I assume you bought the TV that had the best picture in your price range. The TV will perform as well as the connections and source to it. Kind of if you bought a Ferrari would you put tires from k-mart on it, plus regular octane gas. Another thing with hdmi is, its only one cable, I have so many wires behind my TV, i wish I had all hdmi connections. While these wire may be fairly expensive, you only have to buy them once.

NO, you do-not-need an HDMI wire for a your HDTV. I have 2 HDTV's (one 32' 720p, and a new 1080p both LCD flat panel)- Theres ALOT of confusion going around around and misleading information. Basically, component cables ( the 3-coloured cables) look just about the same regardless of what you'll hear. (note HDMI wires do befit by sending audio as well, but theres are other ways around this, such as an optical wire-there cheap and sound perfect for surround sound) Technically, component cables are analog, but after viewing them via HD DVD, High-def cable, etc. (and I have great vision, and I am a broadcasting minor) trust me, save your $ for now, unless you want a 3-5% difference in my opinion. (Note this general info. and some {very few HDTV's} do look better with HDMI)-also, even major web sites will tell you otherwise- they just want your $...Finally, higher priced component cables look better( such as MONSTER). Well g/l, and hope I helped ya out!

your sister-in-law received component cables from Comcast. Those are "good" for HDTV, but HDMI is really the "best" for HD viewing.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy the hdmi cable from a retail store!!! HDMI is HDMI....you don't need to waste $70 on a cable that you can get for under $20.

check out eforcity...they hooked me up

If your HDTV has an HDMI input and your cable box has HDMI output, then this would be the cable to use to receive the best possible image.

Usually these types of providers use only Component Cables to provide for you. Anything better youll need to need to buy. If you have 2 HDMI inputs for your tv, Id go ahead and buy both for later on...

but thats just me.

definite yet you may could desire to alter the television source. The 360 comes with ingredient cables (pink, white, blue, green and pink) until you acquire the arcade one then you certainly could could desire to purchase them one after the other. the least confusing answer is that in case you have a embody gadget then placed money right into a receiver. unity remotes are super to in case you have a super variety of different units connected commonly on account which you hit one button and its alterations all the channels and aspects for you after being programmed. additionally in case you have a 1080i ingredient is stable for you so do no longer pass making an investment in HDMI cables because of the fact your television is quite no longer waiting to get the entire 1080p which HDMI provides. anyhow in case you have the different questions purely permit me recognize, acceptable of success
