I am buying an Alpine MRD-M1005 amp and 2 Alpine type R subs. My question is, for the best sound, would i buy the Type R's in 4 ohm or 2 ohm?

You're best off buying 2-ohm Type R's because Type R's are dual voice coil subs. If you have dual 2-ohm subs, you can wire each sub with the voice coils in series for a 4-ohm load, then connect the subs in parallel to the amp for a total impedance of 2 ohms. That amplifier produces its maximum power into a 2-ohm load. Here's a diagram:

i have that exact setup
get the type r s in dual 2 ohms.
setup each sub so that it runs 1 ohm then run each sub together so that is gives u a 2 ohm load on the amp and u will get the most power out of your amp. your local stereo shop can show u how to setup the subs like that usuially free of charge if they are a good shop.

circulate with the Alpine. I had a equipment in my honda some years returned till the finished ingredient have been given ripped off, besides I had an Alpine very corresponding to the link you confirmed, basicly a similar one basically older form. It rocked crancked out the capacity never over heated. purely a great product! you could't circulate incorrect with an Alpine. If i became to construct yet another vehicle equipment that's what i might use.
