Are you thinking acoustic or electric? For an acoustic, if you go up to 250 - 300 you can get a decent, solid top import. The Washburn D10S is the best selling guitar in the world and it goes for around 250. The Epiphone DR200S is around 200. The key is getting a solid wood top.
For electrics, the Epiphone Les Pauls start around 200. and the Squier Strat and Ibanez GR series are around there.

yeah, to put together what the first two guys said, you just can't really get a non-beginner guitar for under $200. don't be ashamed of getting a beginner guitar though, i mean, first of all, you'll have to look long and hard to have a chance of getting a nice guitar for under $200 unless you really luck out on a used one for some reason. but definitely get a used; guitars aren't really the kind of thing that loses much quality at all with use, like a car would, so you really just land up with a better guitar. again though, don't worry too much about your guitar now; i can guarantee once your play for a few months when you understand more of what your style of playing is and how different guitars sound, you will want a different guitar anyways. but i'd definitely recommend an ibanez grx20z (paste that name into samedaymusic.com); i played it for about 1 of the 2 years i've played and i loved it. i'm actually selling it for $100 right now, even though it was like $150 or something, so if you want i'll put it on e-bay for you. i installed a wammy bar on my own and hasn't really taken any form of damage, so it's actually still probably worth around $150, but i just want to be done with it, so yeah, let me know.

well you aren't gonna get much for under 200 bucks, but try guitar shops and see if they sell used guitars, or you can look for ads in your local newspaper for guitars, but you aren't gonna get too much better than a Squire or any beginner guitar for less than 200
