There are certain jobs that would not be available. However, it is possible to appeal, even long after the discharge. You need to do an online search for the appeal process. My son did that.

I have heard that the particular circumstances are more important than the simple fact. The best way to find out, it not put it on your resume, and only reveal it directly to the person who interviews you. Ask about the job you are applying for, and find out if it matters. Only the person hiring really knows what is required for the job.

A dishonorable discharge is bad news.
