In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Satan is a created being, somewhat like we are, but on a different level. God gave Satan, and all of the angels, a free will, just as he has given us a free will. Satan chose to put himself before God. That was the cause of Satan's fall.

Satan was created as a holy angel. Isaiah 14:12 possibly gives Satan’s pre-fall name as Lucifer. Ezekiel 28:12-14 describes Satan as having been created a cherubim, and was apparently the highest created angel. He became arrogant in his beauty and status, and decided he wanted to sit on a throne above that of God (Isaiah 14:13-14; Ezekiel 28:15; 1 Timothy 3:6). Satan’s pride led to his fall. Notice the many “I will…” statements in Isaiah 14:12-15. Because of his sin, God threw Satan out of heaven.

Satan was a composite of every pre-Christian deity and opposition that ever existed. People are never so close as when they have a common enemy. That's all Satan was/is. All the Gods of all their enemies rolled into one. And of course anything different (foreign) to their own culture and belief has to be from "Satan". So Satan was already there. The Abrahamic God couldn't exist or function without a Satan (adversary).
Most of the "Fall" mythology comes from a fictional book called Paradise Lost. Some of the Hell mythology comes from a fictional book called Dante's Inferno. And Lucifer was NEVER Satan. Lucifer was the Roman "Light Bringer" equated with Prometheus. The Christians used the name Lucifer to devilize the Romans. And originally - Satan was a judge and temptor of men who was on God's payroll.
Christians really don't understand their own hell mythology.

God created the Angel that later rebelled and became Satan. He selfishly wanted the worship that only belonged to God. Ezekiel 28:13-15.

Satan is a fallen angel. God created the angels. Lucifer, Satan before he fell, became proud and wanted to be just like God. God gave him time to repent but he chose not too. So Lucifer and other angels who rebelled against God were kicked out of Heaven.

Seems He created his angels with free will just as humans and even 1/3 of his angels shall be cast out of heaven for being led astray by Satan,Satan was God's favorite angel at one time he just became jealous of his creator and competed with him which can not be done now as the angels and saints watch from heaven the earth as a soap opera God's will shall be done and evil was made to serve the will of good.

I think the story goes: Angels were Gods creation; then God created man and said man was more special than any other creature; then Satan, an angel, became jealous of man and became the enemy of man and fell from the grace of God; now he works opposite of God.
