There can be no mix up on the ancient words for Astronomers and wise men. It was intentional censoring.

I do like making Christians rationalize and get creative with their own book. Though sometimes it does make me feel sorry for them.....until the next time the tell me I'm "going to Hell."

You'll notice the question was of a simple yes or no type.

The New Testament in Modern English Bible and the 20th Century New Testament Bible, both specifically use the word Astrologers. Therefore, Christian sects who sponsor Bibles contradict othe Christian Sects that sponsor Bibles.

More of the tower of Babel scenario that your God has released on you for what you did to his church.

I think the other posters are missing a point here. Everything that the ancients of any belief system did or believed was connected to the divine. So to them being an astronomer and astrology was the same thing. It was what we now see as the occult and magick. There was no differing between the spiritual side of things and what we now call science. The separating of the definition of science and magick happened later and it was by the church. They saw where science was needed but needed to destroy magick or the belief in anything else other than the religion they were pushing. I believe this separation was occurring when the bulk of the rewriting of the bible was being done. This is why Christianity has such a love-hate relationship with science. It is a good necessary thing that has magick at it's roots which according to Christians is evil. It shows their hypocrisy.

There is no error here. Astronomy is not occult nor magical - astrology is. The Greek word used here (from the Textus Receptus Greek Majority Texts which were used by the KJV translators) is MAGOS, which the Roman Catholic organization took to form the word "magician" in the dark ages. In ancient Greece the term was used to denote men of science, math and astronomy - "wise men". The Old Testament has a similar case where the prophet Daniel is referred to as a "seer", though since the dark times a "seer" was always considered a medium or witch.

The King James still stands as the most critical version against all forms of occultism, as confirmed in its translation of the Law in Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Galatians 5:20, Revelation 9:21/21:8.

Terry, very likely. We have to look at some tough facts, here. In the 5th century part of our Bible was burned up. Then come the translations and Heavens knows what was deleted, censored or outright changed. But, as a believer, I take the Apostle Paul's stance that we have to have faith. Those wise men, in part, had to be astronomers because they followed that star to the barn of the newly born Christ. They also brought expensive gifts worthy of a King but I often wonder if Mary and Joseph had to use those gifts to barter for food and shelter during the escape. They were poor. Also, since you are open-minded I have this great book. In 1947, a man named John Allegro found a cave with scrolls. The book is called "The Dead Sea Scrolls" and published by Pelican. It may be out of print but those scrolls were read by a master linguist and John the Baptist is in there. There is so much we are missing and I am glad you brought this to light. I am always searching for truth and this is just one more piece of the puzzle for me, what you had to say. I believe alot was censored. To confuse? To control? I don't know but I believe there is more out there that we never got to see. For me, I hang onto the knowledge of a Supreme Creator (God), God embodied as a man to offer himself as payment so that we no longer had to slaughter lambs and such, and the Holy Spirit that took over when Christ ascended. The Holy Spirit brings truth, help and comfort. I love my Bibles but I also love learning more so thanks for this offering, Terry.

I don't know where you have been but it is taught is every church I have attended that the Wise men were astrologers. That's why they noticed the changes in the stars. I have my own theology about what the star was and who put it in the heavens and why it lead the Wise men to Jerusalem and not directly to the Christ child. But that is for another time... Jim

Your understanding of everything comes from the limited thinking of an unbeliever who has never had divine revelation from God.

Astronomers were also called 'wise men' or sages. Also the astronomers in the Bible were men who were not trying to disprove God and they were willing to check out objectively things that they didn't expressly subscribe to.

You assume because they came from a pagan culture that they were pagans. The truth is that even if they were pagans they still had enough sense to check out the prophecies of the
coming King and follow through on them. I will guarantee you that if they came as pagans they left as believers.

You could learn from their example!

I GUESS YOU DON'T LIKE BEING CORRECTED, BUT YOU

I don't use The Bible as a foundation for my spiritual path so it really doesn't matter to me - accept or not. *shrug*

the did this all the time. there are literally hundreds of other examples of small, seemingly insignificant changes. but when you add them all up, it gets pretty big.

the bible says what people need it to say to perpetuate the belief system. it's all a crock.

buuuuut, astronomy isn't magick and the occult. i think you're thinking of astrology. regardless, the fact that it's been changed is still relevant.

You are confusing astronomy with astrology. Astronomy is the study of the planets and stars etc. Astrology is about the spiritual values and predictors of the planets.
