I think you should loose points for asking stupid, or mean bigoted questions, or for posting those stupid long questions in which they are really just preaching.

Wrong?
It's Yahoo's site; they can set it up however they want.
They were afraid of having a site full of questions with no answers; that's why it "costs" points to ask, and "earns" to answer.
I wish they didn't have the silly, meaningless points at all, but they do.
Even though they "charge" points for questions, people who want answers (or just want to post) are willing to "spend" points asking.
Wrong?
I don't see why.
Counter-productive?
Hardly.
There's no dearth of questions here.
BTW, this is actually a question about Yahoo Answers itself, not about R&S -- and has been asked and answered many times before.

for me it's not. because yahoo answers is a site where we can share ideas to enlighten others. and the pointing system just made it more humanly, because eventhough people didn't know the proper answer for a certain question, they will post something to that question to gain points. but on the other hand, it helps a lot in the market strategy of this page

Yeah i don't think you should lose points for asking questions. Either GAIN points for being curious and using this site or just not lose/gain any at all.

Well, you do get three points back if you vote for Best Answer. So it costs only two points. Not much of a loss

If they didn't take points away, each category would be filled with stupid questions........hey........but that's what's already happening.
You get 3 points back for picking a Best Answer.
