Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Jeremiah 32:17 - Ah, Lord GOD! You Yourself made the heavens and earth by Your great power and with Your outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for You!

Philippians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

“To suppose that they eye, with all its [complex parts] for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of [shapes and colors], could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree … The belief that an organ as perfect as the eye could have been formed by natural selection is more than enough to stagger anyone.”

It has been calculated that the chances for formation of ONE human eye would be 1 in 10^266.

That is 1 chance in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

By scientific calculations, 1 in 10^32 would be impossible. So the chances of the human eye being created “randomly” or “by chance” would be like me being able to throw a rock with my own arm from my home in North-West Tennessee to … say Antarctica. 1 in 10^32 would be similar to me throwing a rock with my arm from my home to Georgia. Granted, I probably could not throw a rock from my townhouse to my friend’s townhouse just down the drive.

Who do you think that the quote above is from?

Oddly enough, it was written in the memoirs (diaries) of Charles Darwin. He wrote it a few years before his death.

2007-05-19 07:47:11 · update #1

He wrote this a few years AFTER he became a Christian. Yes, Charles Darwin became a Christian in the last few years of his life and renounced the “Theory of Evolution” as myths and lies. You probably won’t hear any mainstream news media telling anyone about him becoming a Christian. You definitely will not hear any of them tell you that 75% of the "theories" of evolution have been proved wrong.

God created the Heaven and Earth and everything on them. God created us. We are not a freak accident.

I kind of like knowing God is better than impossible. (1 in 10^Infinity)

Finish quoting Darwin and his discourses on the eye please - it's a rhetorical question and you are taking it TOTALLY out of context to support your faith. That counts as a lie to yourself and others who trust you and whatever your beliefs you should be ashamed of that. Is this the mettle of the Creationist movement - dishonesty by misrepresentation and the promotion of urban legends?

Yes urban legends - your research has not led you to the part where the Darwin family have spoken out publically against the rumour of Darwin's deathbed confession on many occasions. No, you'd rather take the account of "lady hope" who was not at his deathbed as testified by Charles' daughter Henrietta Darwin who actually was. While you're at it, why not rehash the rumours of the deathbed confessions of Anton LeVay, Robert Ingersoll and Emperor Julian? This trick of putting words in the mouth of the dead is the reason why Dawkins will be having his death recorded on tape.

1) What is an "evolutionist"? That is a term only used by Creationists, and it is pejorative
2) I can't explain scripture to you. I can find holes and flaws and errors in scripture and I understand why that is, as it was created by fallible and imperfect humans. Some scripture is very beautiful and poetic. What you don't recognize is that just because something is written in the Bible, doesn't make it factual, it is myth, it is opinion, nothing more.
3) Read Dawkins if you want to learn about the evolution of the eye. It has been worked out in some detail. The eye has developed independently at least 40 times in various animal groups. There is a good summary of it in "The Ancestor's Tale"
4) It has "been calculated" by whom? How did they do the calculation? And so what? The point of evolution, and the power of natural selection is that even though some events may be rare, they are not impossible. Over vast periods of time, a rare event that has survival advantages will persist, and become more common.
5) You lie about Darwin denying evolution and turning back to God in his later years. That is a myth that has been perpetuated by creationists for decades and quite decisively refuted. Even the Answers in Genesis people say believers should not be using that one anymore. Furthermore you are "quote mining", taking that Darwin quote completely out of context and editing out the explanatory parts.

First of all, Charles Darwin never renounced evolution. He was always open to the fact that his theory didn't hold all the answers. But that's a sign of intelligence -- to accept that you alone can't possibly have all the knowledge. The truth comes from the compilation of discoveries by several devoted people.

Also, if you notice, Darwin never says that the human eye must have been designed by a creator. He says that it could not have come about by natural selection. Natural selection is only a part of the theory of evolution.

As far as my responses to your bible verses, well ... anyone can write a book. Anyone can dream up a creation story. All kinds of people in all kinds of civilizations have done it since the beginning of time. The bible is just another example of this.

Here's the explanation: you don't understand evolution. It's not about mere chance.

"He wrote this a few years AFTER he became a Christian. Yes, Charles Darwin became a Christian in the last few years of his life and renounced the “Theory of Evolution” as myths and lies. You probably won’t hear any mainstream news media telling anyone about him becoming a Christian. You definitely will not hear any of them tell you that 75% of the "theories" of evolution have been proved wrong."

Oh, and you're a liar too.
Darwin didn't become a Christian and renounce evolution, and you simply made up that "75%" nonsense.

So you should be asking yourself "If my beliefs are so great, why do I have to lie to defend them?". Doesn't that give you pause? I know that if I had to lie this much to maintain my beliefs, I'd be really worried about the corner I'd backed myself into.

Do you have any kind of plan for getting out of the hole you've dug for yourself? Have you thought about how to start apologizing, and admitting to yourself and others that you've got a problem? It's never too late to start, but it's only going to get harder and harder the longer you commit to lying about your beliefs.

Explain the quotes from a book?

I can show you books that say that witches and wizards live among us, and the ones in England go to a school called Hogwarts.

What of it?

It turns out, the eye has evolved independently six or eight times (I forget which).

Dunno how that calculation you gave was made, if it was made at all, as opposed to just being made up, but it really takes only a few changes to produce a functioning eye.

If you read that quote in context, (or even read it carefully at all) you would see that he was admiting that evolution natural selection working on random mutation is hard to understand, not that it's false.

If you were interested in understanding what evolutionists think (rather than telling us we're wrong without having a clue as to what we think), you could find out.

But you aren't, so you won't; you seem to prefer to remain ignorant.

All of the Additional Details you added aren't available in this screen, so they're mostly wasted, as I can't read them to reply to them.

But then you aren't interested in the truth, so it wouldn't be worth my time.

If you wanted people to address specific points, you would ask a question for each, so we could read them while answering.

Charles Darwin was born Christian, he didn't "become" Christian late in life. Whoever told you otherwise was lying to you.

Most Christians accept evolution, BTW.

Most Christians don't hate science, fact, or reason, and prefer ignorance and misinformation.

Darwin didn't renounce evolution. That is a myth.
The bible was written by men , and is no different from any of the other myths which were trying to explain how the world came about. Using a myth (bible) to explain another myth (creation) is not very logical.
Evolution does not say that anything came about by accident. Natural selection is not an accidental process.
Just because something is improbable does not make it impossible. Anyone who studies mathematical probability can tell you that.

Sorry, you are misinformed. Darwin never renounced his theory of evolution, and many years of additional research have proven beyond any reasonable doubt that he was right, though biological evolution is a far more complex system than Darwin ever imagined - which of course is likewise true of every natural system. The initial discovers never recognize all the intricacies of the system. Subsequent rsearchers uncover more and more facts which support and flesh out the original theory. The same is true of evolution.

As for evolution of the eye, it isn't difficult to imagine for anyone acquainted with zoology, since there are species living today that demonstrate every possible step in such an evolutionary series, from simple light-sensitive pigment spots to simple eyes with no retina or lens, to more complex eyes with a stationary lens and no retina, to primitive retinas, complex retinas and focusable lenses. None of these structures is "incomplete". Each serves the species in which it is found just perfectly, as thought it was intelligently designed. Which of course it was. The magnificent system of evolutionary change, and the innumerable species it has generated in response to an ever-changing earth, continues to give glory to its all-knowing, all-powerful Designer and Creator.

The chances you cite were just a made up number.

The fact that you altered the quote, in addition to taking it out of context indicates your total lack of credibility.

The further lie that he became Christian in the last years of his life (this beats the death bed recantation lie), just further shows your dishonesty.
