The new formula has a best answer percentage requirement.

Did you quit playing for awhile? I know I was up there and I changed my e-mail adress and started over which now I am Level 2. It amazes me to see people with these Top Contributor indicators. Where do they get the time? I like this forum, but I can't do it day and night. My husband already gets on me about this (even though I fulfill all of my obligations) and there have to be others with children, careers, school, etc. You have to play an awful lot and I guess someone managed to outplay you, therefore you gave up your crown. Go get it back if you want it! Or ask Yahoo and see what they say; maybe it is an error.

Heh, I wondered the same thng. I had a "top contributor" for a short while, as well. Never understood how I got it in the first place, and never understood how I lost it, either.
I've seen some people who give great, well thought-out answers who are not "top contributors", while other people whose answers seem to consist mostly of sarcasm and acid who keep their badge, so the qualtity of the answers doesn't seem to be a real factor, either, even though YA says it is.
I dunno, give the Yamster time. He'll get it straight sooner or later.
Meantime, relax and enjoy yourself. Who really cares if you have badge or not...you give good answers from what I've seen, and you care about people.
The crown that is waiting for you is much more valuable in end than that badge, anyhow.

I have never had the "Top Contributor" status and I average between 31-35 percent best answer. My guess is I can be a little course with my answers at times and I can be off color for a joke now and then. Some people and even the YAHOO monitors might not like my off color humor. If I stayed straight with my answers my average might even be higher. To answer your question you may have offended someone and they reported you. It has happened to me twice.

Dear Dog Sneeze,

I don't know how you lost it. I was actually hoping to find an answer here since I lost mine a few weeks ago.

Like Angeltress I don't know how I got it in the first place. So welcome to the club of Former Top Contributors. You are in good company.

I think you have to keep up with a certain amount of questions answered by all the other top contributors. I used to have it and then I didn't get on for a couple days and I never caught back up.

It's the holy spirit of Y!A at work and he works in mysterious ways....

Also probably because you gave more answers that did not get a "best answer" so your total percentage of "best answer" got below what is needed to be a Top.

Have a nice day .

It's not like being Queen of England and you've got it for life unless you abdicate, you gotta keep answering questions if you want to keep the ugly orange badge.

It comes and goes...

Probably has to do with:
How many questions you answer.
Your demonstrated knowledge of the subject.
The sincerity of your answers.
and that sorta' stuff there...

I hear that Yahoo! Answers has geniuses in ivory towers who look over every single post!

I dropped off the radar screen in a category also. It doesn't matter, it's not like you can trade in the points or ratings for anything swanky.
