During the summer, because all the activities and stuff I do is after 4pm so I hate it when I stay during the hot day at home so I flip everything and willingly I sleep when my parents wake up (7:00-8:00am) and wake up about (3:45-5:00) pm. thats like 9:00 to 9:30 hours of sleeping that's more than i sleep during school days with more than an hour. I am 13 and i play lots of sports during summer, anyways my point is, is it healthy for me to do this and will it affect my growth, remember i get more sleep

You are getting enough sleep, teenagers need 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep.

However, I dont think it is healthy for you to do this because it has the potential to affect your growth. This is because we were programed physiologically to be diurnal (sleep in the night and stay awake in the daytime) not nocturnal (awake at night).

We all have a circadian rhythm, a 24 hour cycle in which certain hormones and chemicals increase or decrease at night (for example, melatonin does to help us sleep). Most of our body functions follow a circadian pattern, our digestive secretions etc. By staying awake during the night, you are exposing yourself to light which inhibits melatonin (this hormone is only secreted at night). Who knows what this inhibition is doing to your body because if you inhibit one hormone, you affect others and you also affect the general homeostasis of your body as well as its circadian rhythm.

Maybe you are getting enough sleep, but is the sleep architecture (sleep stages and brain waves) like normal sleep? You cant be sure of this, especially since growth hormone is secreted at night when we have deep sleep.

I am concerned, and I think you should ask your pediatrician about this, he will give you a definate answer since at 13 you are still growing. You need a certain amount of sunlight to regulate your body and this could be important also to help your body mature. If you are waking up in the early evening you are not getting the same amount of sunlight as the rest of us.

It won't efffect anything it's just like sleeping at night, but with sun. I don't get how you would be able to sleep though when it's so bright outside! That won't effect anything though whatsoever just be sure to eat at the right times like you would during the day and get plenty of rest for the hot summer and sport activities!
Good luck

It won't hurt you at all, your body needs to rest at some point, no matter which part of the day.
