Being as I am only child I loved it. I didn't have to share things and I got alot more things than my other friends who had brothers and sisters. I didn't miss not having a bond with another sibling. Growing up an only child was a great experience and I don't feel cheated at all.

I am an only child...

Well... as an only child you get all the undivided attention form your parents and relatives... all the presents and all the love... but sometimes thats can make you into a spoilt brat if your parents arent careful...and it can be lonely!

If you have siblings, I can only imagine that you would grow up to be more considerate, would not always crave for attention, you would learn to share your stuff and you would learn to be content with a smaller slice of pie! But also, you would probably get less attention within the family and if your parents have favourites, it would make you feel inferior...

I think I would like to have a sibling, but im 15, and it might be a little to late!

Psychologist have studied this issue for years, there conclusion is that very young children would rather be the only child--hey, if you told your spouse you were bringing some new adult into the family they would be competing with for your time, money, and affection, how would they feel. However, siblings teach children how to interact with others.

In my own experience, I was raised as a only child by my grandparents for 4 years, then my dad remarried and had to children before I started living with them. Even with all the problems this created for me, I preferred having siblings, I learned to share not only material things, but thoughts (at time love and hates). I was never all that close to them, two years ago one of my half-sisters died from cancer, the lost really cut into me. I regret we were not closer.

Being the only child has it advantages, parents are able to provide more time, money, and emotional support when they don't have to split these resources.

I think having a sibling... I have a older sister and I have fun with her.. The only thing about having siblings is having to maybe share rooms... that sucks and will make you want to be an only child!

I WISH and PRAYED everyday for a sibling...bc my mom was being abused by my dad daily (physically, verbal and mental). My sibling finally came, but it was years down the line. I think If i had a sibling that was close in age with me, It wouldnt have been as bad, as just being all alone in that situation

Just keep it the way it is, both older sister and brother and younger sister and brother. Yes, I am the middle child but interstingly I found out that being the cream of the Oreo brings me a lot of undersatnding towards all my brothers and sisters. I understand my older sister because she has two younger sisters and having my youngeer sister has lead me to be less annoying ot my older sister because I know the pain of having an older sister. I also know how it feels to have an older sister and how mean they can be to you sometimes, so I try to be a nice older sister for the youngest one. For my brothers since I'm stuck in between them I guess I get along with them really well because I grew up with them not intersted enough in what my older sister was doing or not curious to check out the new baby daughter, my brothers and I get along very well and I guess just because I keep them from growing apart.

I would rather have a sibling. Besides every "only child" that I have known has grown up to be very selfish.

I would rather have a sibling or more than one. Big families rock in my opinion. Always some one to play with, or fight with. If you don't get along with one person, there's always some one else to hang out with. It's great!

I like having a sibling I miss him though because we lead two totally different lifestyles. He has an addiction to achohol and he seperates himself from me and our family. I love my brother and no matter what he does I would not have wanted to miss one single thing that we ever shared I still have my childhood memories and sometimes when I miss him I just remember the good times.
