Yes, it's the only way I've ever been able to quit. However, when the urge got really bad, I chewed 1/2 of the 1mg gum until it passed. That only goes on for a few weeks. But keep the gum on you forever, cause the urge will hit every now and again, and the gum will always keep you from giving into the craving in a moment of weakness. Be sure to use the patch as directed and go through all the steps. The patch is awesome, you really forget the habit quicker and pretty painless! Hope you go through it and the best of luck to your success!

I didn't have success, if success is defined as quitting and staying stopped. Plus, the patch caused me to have wildly vivid dreams if I wore it to sleep. I've heard this is a common side-effect. But it was hard to get a good night sleep. Plus, taking it off before bed would leave you "unpatched" for the morning.
I'll tell you though, I did have success quitting w/a medication called Chantix. It is not an anti-depressant like Wellbutrin. It had no side effects on me. It just simply caused me to lose the craving for nicotine. I took it for about a month and then stopped. My doctor prescribed it and it sure helped me quit and I'm staying that way.

I quit 9 months ago and smoked 2pks/ day. I loved the patches and some ins. will pay for them now. I think I only had success because I joined 1800-quit-now and worked the home program and started it 4 months before my quit date. My hubby went cold turkey and it was hellish for him and everyone around him. He regrets not planning better

Oh yeah, the patch does work, But it only works if your not going to be around any body else that smokes. And if you drink coffee, or drink beer, you have to give all that up, because that makes you want one. They are called stimulats when trying to quit.
And one more thing. You are going to have to try extra hard at night because the patch seems to get weaker at night. I use to run to that patch first thing in the morning.

I heard it works for some. But, For me I smoked while wearing it. They say I you shouldn't smoke and wear the patch at the sametime.
Bottom line: still smoking... Trying again on May 29, my 40th b-day
*edit* I tried cigarrest... That was pretty good. Badtiming in life for me though

the patch works as long as you have the will power to quit smoking as well, nothing does the trick its all in the will power. so make sure your dedicated to quiting before you try something like that.
