Things I believe:

The Buddha teaches us about
1. the center path...to gain enlightenment
2. to not harm living things.
3. that every person can reach enlightenment.
4. that we make our own Karma
5. That the self is the "most honored"...

Things I don't belive:

1. re-encarnation
2. in heaven nor hell, (perhaps i do believe in FO...or want to believe)
3. in demons or the other gods
4. in Karma from past lives.

If I were ever to be a religious person again...I would definately be a buddhist and not a christian...

I thought Buddhism taught you to observe yourself and life and learn from it.

I have seen many Buddhist doing things I would put forward as a correct action.

As a Scientologist I have noted many parallels with Buddhism. One is the fact that nothing is true until it is true to you.

There is a book called Hymn of Asia by Ron Hubbard, in it is a poem written on the Prophecy of Metteya.

I knew a guy that was studying to be a Lama, his name was Ben, I think his name is Indra now. He is someone who made an impact on my life because of his compassion and understanding.

It is the only religion that says not to trust the founder and prove everything for yourself. Through meditation and the cultivation of compassion, wisdom and ethics one can prove for oneself that what the Buddha taught was true. We do not have to rely on faith or wait until we die to be proven right or wrong. The more one meditates and and cultvates compassion, wiscom and ethics, the more clearly we see the truth and the truth in the Buddha's teaching.

For me one of the most important things in Buddhism is that "belief" is not required. The Buddha encourages us to examine and test everything, including his teachings. Everything is open to discussion and debate and challenge. It just so happens that the more deeply you look, the more you understand the profound wisdom of the Buddha's teachings.

Truthfulness, sincerity and credibility supercedes "honour and goodness"- A false and bogus honour and goodness without truth and sincerity and credibility is an useless tinsel."Preach what you practice"-"Preach what your conscience accepts"("Antharaathmaana Pravachanaabyaam Naha pramathi thavyam"-Yajur Vedham) It is what Buddhism does---It Preaches what it Practises-it is not boasting the numerical superiority of its followers(2 billion-1.5 billion etc)-It does preach what it practises-Unlike in the Altar daily praching by preists wearing silver/gold lined costumes-"THY SHALL NOT KILL" and they and their followers daily killing millions of goats/ sheep/ cows/ chicken/turkey/fish/shrimps-anything that crawls/flies/swims---if you can not"practice" do not Preach "THY SHALL NOT KILL"!!!!--leave alone animals. Our own cluster -6,000,000 innocent -non-combat civilians mostly women and children were humiliated, tortured and finally annihilated, for no fault of them except they followed a different Religion. 64 million Homo sapiens-all belonging to mostly the same Religion divided into two arbitrary "groups'-killed each other in two world wars- No Religious Leader worth their name condemned "Let us not annihilate our own religious, our own spicies -they did not go on "fast unto death" like Mahathma Gandhi--what earthly benifit they acheived except quenching their EGO?

It's obviously correct because it does nothing more than encourage adherence to a set of moral precepts- how could that be wrong? Whether it leads you to enlightenment however is another matter.

sac for me, this is why.

when i first became a christian, i heard people all the time say

"that isnt true" or "that didnt happen" about the bible. but now we have seen soooo many things of the bible proven true that i have no reason to trust any other source.

an example.. people used to say "jesus wasnt real".. well we know he was now, bc theres sources out side of the bible who have written of him.
people said the jews never saw the sea parted and it never closed on their enemies. but we know now...that it did.

there is more proof to the bible being correct then any other religion out there.

I really don't care what they believe. All I know is that they seem to be a peaceful people who could care less if you join their religion or not.
