i know, it's ridiculous.

when they made the ps2 and the ps2 card, you would have thought they would make it so that the ps2 card could also save ps1 games, instead of having to move it over the way you currently do

then again, i guess it's cause the ps1 *games* don't recognize the ps2 card. however, again, when they first came up with the ps2 card, it should have had whatever the ps1 card has that allows the system to know it's there

Economics. They make more money selling you additional equipment. Besides would you want something that is outdated in terms of speed and memory? Playstation 1 and 2 are older. Playstation 3 has more electronic horsepower under the hood than either of the older models. You would have a fit if you tried to play games and the system was too slow to keep up.

Hahaha, yeah, it gets kind of annoying. Especially seeing how I lost one of my memory cards, that had all my Final Fantasy X save data on it *cries*.

The great thing is, there IS a Playstation with internal memory... It's called the PS3, and it's a powerhouse. They're a bit expensive for my tastes, though.

1. It's a way for Sony to make extra money. Just remember back then that when Sony sold a PSX, it was losing money, so one way to get some of that money back is by selling accessories. Sony makes money for every accessory sold.

2. It's a way to cut down on the cost of the PSX. Many people already considered the PSX to be expensive when it launched, so if Sony included the hard drive, it's going to be even more expensive. Back then, hard drives were really expensive.

3. Back then, game data were small, so a hard drive isn't really needed. Even if the hard drive was only 1 gb, it would be more than plenty.

It's because the ps1 and ps2 lack an internal hard drive

the ps3 has an internal 60 GB hard drive
