I use to go tanning and I have a tattoo. Just ask the people who work at the tanning office to see it they know what you should do.

don't tan if it is newer than 2 months It takes the human body approximately 8 months to fully accept a tattoo. If it starts bleeding ink after 2 months your body is rejecting it and the artist can explain to you how to take care of it so that it will stop. Go to your tattoo parlor and get some stuff for it even if it's ten years old they will know what it is it works like a sun blocker to help from fading...

If its a new tattoo, you got it in the past 30 days? Then I would keep the tattoo out of direct contact with the sun and definately no tanning bed.
If later than that look at the products others suggested or ask a local tattoo parlor if they have any.

Yes, tanning beds have very strong UV rays which can over time fade a tattoo. So use sunscreen specially over your tattoo if you have to go tanning.

I don't know the name of the product, but it's a little stick thing that they usually sell at tanning salons. It rolls out kinda like a lipstick does, and you can color it onto your tattoo before you tan. It will protect the color. I had two tattoos for quite a long time, and never used it (I didn't even know it existed). They faded out tremendously. I had the tattoos recolored back in 2000, and started using that product and neither of them have faded at all.

you should keep your tattoo out of the sun and away from uv rays. it damages your tattoo. there is nothing you can put on your tattoo that will protect it from being broken down over time. tanning is bad for your skin and your tattoos.

If it's less than two weeks old then cover it with the towel, after that use sunscreen on it. You can get a chap stick with sunscreen anywhere like wal-mart or cvs. They sell a Hawaiian Tropic lip balm with spf in it and it's easy to cover your tattoo perfectly with that. NO ointment or Vaseline, it's bad for your tattoo.

I don't use anything with my tatt's. The tanning "weathers" the tatts and gives them character.
My oldest tatt is 35 years old and look awesome over the tan.
