Because they are convinced that violence is a means for solving problems.

You only have to look at popular US childrens cartoons and most US films for adults to see why that is the case.

It takes using your head and looking at facts to get over the cultural conditioning, and most people never get to that stage.
Supporters of right-wing organisations seem to be mostly of the kind that never bothered. They like easy solutions and don't want to know that those have been proven to be counterproductive.

Occupation :1. The act or process of holding or possessing a place. 2. The state of being held or possessed. 3. Invasion, conquest, and control of a nation or territory by foreign armed forces. 4. The military government exercising control over an occupied nation or territory.

Ok now that we have defined the term lets see if there is any logic in what you are saying. For Occupation to Cause terrorism the occupation would have to initiate the terrorist activities. I believe that you know that terrorists’ attacks on the USA have been ongoing for almost 40 years. Prior to 9/11 our embassies were bombed, or military attacked, our citizens killed. No where was there an occupation.

So what does cause terrorism? Well success causes terrorism. You see terrorism is militarily insignificant. It is only when people like you make it important that it becomes important. So I guess you could say that you and those in government who think like you cause terrorism.

BTW you do know that a large segment of the Islamic population (prior to the Iraq war and continuing now) have declared Global Jihad against the West and specifically the USA; that they intend, not terror, but the total annihilation of all Americans. You do know that don't you? What, you don't think they mean it? Just posturing? Want to bet your life on it? I can tell you from personal experience that they do mean it and they will keep fighting until either we defeat them or they destroy us.

P.S. You may note the Iraq has an independent Government (so independent that we cannot even get them to postpone their summer vacation). If you slowly and carefully read the definition you will find that having troops in a country whose government wants you there is not an occupation. We have soldiers in Germany and Japan are those countries “occupied”? Nope! And neither is Iraq. Pull your head out of your fourth point of contact and Think! Fighting and winning on somebody else’s terrain is better than fighting the same enemy in your home town.

Maybe because the left wingers keep trying to tell us that occupation of our country by 12,000,000 criminals is a good thing...Now for a reality check, do you not believe that the Iraqi people were terrorized before the war? The difference now is that the terrorism is aimed at their government instead of from their government.

If you don't believe that, then you haven't been paying attention. Remember the gassing of the Kurdish villages, remember the accounts of the Bathe Party Republican Guard Death Squads, remember the accounts of men and boys being hauled away from their families, never to be seen again, remember the accounts of the many mass graves our coalition forces have unearthed.

If we were to simply say that occupation causes terrorism, then we would have had massive terrorism problems in Germany and Japan after WWII. We have terrorism in Iraq because Iraq is divided between differing religious factions, each one wants control of the country. The last thing they want is a stable government running the country, nor are they in favour of a democratically elected government. They want to push us out, take over the government and form an Islamic government similar to the one in Iran, in my opinion.

.Well... it didn't happen in Japan or Germany following World War II: and they were actually CALLED "Occupation Forces". Yet there was VERY little terrorist activity in Europe, and none in Japan.

Now Afghanistan wasn't occupied by the US or any other nation, since the Soviet withdrawal in 1989, nor was Saudi Arabia or Yemen: yet THOSE nations founded the terrorist organizations that killed 3000+ on Sept. 11, 2001, and have continued in killing tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians and US Servicemen.

What "causes" this terrorism is religious fanaticism funded by the Iranian & Syrian governments and Saudi Arabian civilians.

Occupation of post-WWII Germany, Japan, Italy did not cause terrorism.

Instead the occupation restored order and sped the reconstruction of the nations.

Some occupations might alleviate suffering, some may not. The details make all the difference.

Yes.. if we weren't occupying Iraq.. 9/11 would never have happened! It's true.. really..

The real question is, why can't the left grasp the fact that appeasement has never and will never work.

What 'occupation?'

Are you not aware that both Afghanistan have elected representative governments that can ask us to leave if they want to?

Or are you another one of those liberals who refuses to recognize elected governments?

Many people see "terrorism" as a sort of entity that one can fight and win against.

Herein lies the problem- terrorism is a method, not a tangible enemy. There is no "terrorism" base with a "terrorism" head commander who gives out orders to his "terrorist" troops in their "terrorist" uniforms.

One cannot win a war against a method... at least not by traditional means.

I refuse to answer your question because it is so biased and reveals your agenda. It is very presumptive and incorrect.
