Assuming you are pray to God, he gave you all the understanding and knowledge that you need. It is important to understand that when asking for something that you acknowledge the gift is there. For it is you that must find the wisdom to know that the knowledge you ask for already exist, within your realm of thought, just accept it, know it, and use it wisely.

Who are you praying to?

God grants understanding, through the Holy Spirit in a believer's heart.

All other origins of understanding, i would personally be very suspicious of.

Dear Rev,

The Bible tells us: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord."

"Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things." (2 Timothy 2:7).

God is!! We need to use the understanding, or wisdom, we ask for - but it says in proverbs and other places in the Bible that if we ask for wisdom and understanding God will grant it.

Well, since God says if any of us lack wisdom we should ask Him and He will give it, I guess it means that God is responsible. However, please be careful about asking God for wisdom because you may come to understand many things that you would be better off not understanding.

YOU ARE!!

The answer to your prayer will probably just be a situation that gives you an OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN!

Whether or not you use that opportunity to gain understanding is entirely up to you!

That's easy, with study and prayer come more understanding. God gives it to us, like he gives us everything.

The Holy Spirit.
you need to accept it, its a gift He gives to you, and you need to choose to recieve it, just like salvation, and of course, the first step, is asking for it :-)
