I agree with the person who answered before me. Weekend is still weekend in French.
By the way, in English you would say: "on weekends I normally go bowling", not really 'at' the weekend.

Normalement, Ã la week-end, je fais du bowling.
Normally, at the weekend, I do bowling (in English it is said as 'go bowling', but in French it is said as 'do bowling'.

Parisiens say le weekend
French Canadians say la fin de semaine...
normalement, je fais des quilles chaque weekend (chaque fin de semaine), (normally, I go bowling each weekend)
Sur le weekend, je fais des quilles (on the weekend, I go bowling)

I agree with the french people answers up there.
But i don't agree about one thing: i'm a parisian and i sometimes say "EN fin de semaine", i don't use it as a translation of "week-end" but as a way to say "on friday or at the week-end".

In the french part of Canada they say << au fin du semaine, je fais du bowl (or bowling, depending on the situation)>>
In most other countries, they say "Au le week-end, je fais du quilles"

Ce fin de semaine, je danserai avec ma femme. Ce week-end, je danserai avec ma femme.
My French prof said week-end is the proper usage. Using "fin de semaine" is considered either archaic or proper québequois useage.
