i have a moderately old shot gun that was my fathers that he passed down to me before he passed away and i use some times to hunt, and i can only put 2 shells in the magazine and one in the chamber for a total of 3 shells for immediate use before i have to put more into the weapon. i know you have to take the "blocks" out of the magazine in order for the shot gun to hold more shells, how do i take the blocks out of the gun? the type is a winchester 1300 model.

Under the barrel, there is a little tube looking thing. there is a cap over it, twist that, and there might be another littl cap. take it of and there is the Plug. Remove it and put it back together and there you have it, a 5 round shotgun. (this is illegal in my state to limit the number of shots put at deer, its retarded).

I have a Model 1300 Winchester 12 gauge Combo that I have owned for about 20 years. I still use it for hunting and in my opinion it is priceless.

Right under your barrel is a round cap. unscrew it and a spring will come out, don't panic. In the middle of the spring will be a wood or plastic dowel about the size of a pencil. Remove it. replace spring and cap and you now have a 5 shot shotgun. Be advised that it is illegal to hunt in most states with a shotgun that holds more that 3 rounds. ( except for deer hunting).
